Mega Month Challenge - July 2025

The 13-Year Anniversary Challenge (13th MMC) --Final Scores Posted--
Mod
- Read books as normal and post your review/updates on your team or solo review thread.
- You will receive points for every book which fits one of the following descriptions -
✩ Tagged YA
✩ Buddy Read thread present on group.
✩ Has an edition published between 2012 and 2025.
✩ Is a current GBR, or has been a GBR in the past. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
✩ Has the letters M or C anywhere in the title/series name/author name.
✩ Has at least 1 of the following letters - Y, A, B, U, D, R, E, S, C, O, or N anywhere in the title/series name/author name.
✩ Has the number 1 or 3 anywhere in the title/ISBN/ASIN/average rating/number of ratings/number of reviews/page count/date published/year published.
✩ Is number 1 or 3 or 13 in a series.
✩ Has a page count divisible by 13 (which gives a whole number).

- The Short Version -Points:
* Points will only be given for pages read in July 2025.
Types of Books + Page Counts + Points:
* The minimum page counts for points are:
~ Adult/YA without illustrations = 50 pages
~ Middle-grade/children's books without illustrations = 75 pages
~ Manga, graphic novels, plays, poetry, and books written in verse = 150 pages
* Books may be added together to reach these minimums, as long as all books are under the minimum.
Reviews:
* A review or 4 detailed updates will be required for each book read.
* One book per comment on the review thread (unless adding books together).
* Maximum of 10 reviews per person in a day.
Re-Reads / Starting Again:
* Re-reads are allowed in this challenge.
Buddy Reads:
* Buddy reads must take place within this group to gain buddy read points.
* You must make at least 4 comments, including a reply to a buddy if possible.
* You may start up to 7 days before the start date, and 14 days after.
* July GBRs also count.
Start Times:
* This challenge will begin and end on Goodreads time (PST) - 00:01 on July 1st 2025 PST, to 00:01 on August 1st 2025 PST.

★ Graphic novels/manga/poetry/plays/books written in verse/books which have some illustrations - *1 point per 150 pages*

★ Buddy reads MATCH your points score for pages, so a 300-page book (6pts) + buddy read (6pts) = 12 points.

(Bonus points for buddy reads will only be given if the buddy read has taken place in this group.)
★ If books are long enough to count on their own (50/75/150 pages) they will be scored on their own.
* Individual bonus points will be awarded based on page count, the same as page points and buddy read points. So if you read a 300 page book that also has completes a description, you will receive 6 page points + 6 bonus points ☺
Over 600 pages unillustrated adult/YA book = 12 points
Over 600 pages unillustrated childrens/middle-grade book = 8 points
Over 600 pages illustrated/poetry etc. = 4 points
★ Mods will keep track of each team's points, using the following system -

★ We will be tracking how many books you have read, but you will not receive points for this column.
The minimums to earn a 1 in the books read column are -
* 50 pages - YA/NA/Adult/non-fiction book (without illustrations)
* 75 pages - Middle-grade or children's book (without illustrations)
* 150 pages of graphic novels, poetry, plays, novels written in verse, and books with some illustrations etc.
(You may add books together to reach these numbers if you would like)

This challenge will be a team challenge. We will have a small number of teams, with a mixture of readers in each. When signing up please let us know whether you would like to be on a team, or whether you would like to go solo ☺
Teams should be posted by late June. If you sign up after teams are posted, we will try to add you to a team, but we may not always be able to. You may be asked to join a waiting list. Please sign up as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Q - So is it like last time where you need to finish all the descriptions before restarting again or you can just do the same description all over and over again and still work (like reading ya books for the entirety of july, then still work since reading ya is one of the descriptions)
A - The second one, descriptions can be reused as often as you would like, there is no limit to how many times you can use one ☺
Q - My book qualifies for quite a few of the description prompts given - I only have to list one of them, right? And does it matter which one I put when submitting my Review (like are we trying to get one for each, or, are any worth more than the others? Etc.)?
A - You only need to put one description that it counts for, and it doesn't matter which one you use, they all count the same ☺

This will be a team reading challenge which will run from July 1st 2025, to July 31st 2025 inclusively. Results will be announced on August 1st/2nd 2025.
To complete this challenge, participants will read books of their own choice (which fit the challenge guidelines), and points will be awarded based on the length of the book, and whether you have buddy-read your book.
* All points earned in this challenge will go towards your total points for the 2025 MMC.
* You may also choose to take part in this challenge, without taking part in any of the other challenges happening this July at YA Buddy Readers' Corner ♥
