Space Opera Fans discussion

I joined this group in 2015. In 2017 Anna who created this group announced she was leaving it. She was either going to hand it over to a new moderator or just disband it. I was rather intimidated at the thought of taking over but I hated even thinking about no longer having the group, so I volunteered.

I’m not planning to leave the group, but I’m feeling my age and if memory serves Betsy is at least as old as I am. I’d like to have a third moderator that I could train to share the duties and take over if I need to step down or just disappear for a while.

Is anyone willing?

Teresa, I'd be happy to be a third moderator.....although I doubt if I'm going to reduce the average age of the moderator team! If some of the younger group members want to be a moderator I'm happy to step back, or to just help whenever required.

Thanks John! While we wait to see if there are other volunteers, I’ll think about the various tasks and try to document them here, which will save headaches in the long run with briefing new moderators. Some of my regular tasks aren’t ones that are as obvious as handling the Pick nominations and discussions.

I would like to add that a new moderator would have the ability to change how things are done.

Teresa has done a fantastic job as moderator, but she does things differently than how Anna did them, and she has changed things periodically depending on how well they worked to keep people engaged.

BTW, I'm older than both of you. And yes, I would welcome John as a third moderator but also maybe someone younger.

Congratulations John! You are now a moderator. Hopefully between the three of us we can muddle through until someone younger volunteers.
