Project Hail Mary discussion

I consider myself an avid reader and was blown away by Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. I usually rate books quite critically because most stories don't hit the sweet spot for me, but I LOVED the originality of this story. It made me realize how bored I've become of reading the same tropes over and over again. It feels like "all" romantasy books are the same. I probably need to break out of my bubble. So PLEASE hit me with your recommendations of unique, original stories.

I don't want to restrict myself to the same genres I always read, however I'm not into super high fantasy or manga.

I really loved Scythe by Neal Shusterman. The concept felt fresh to me (at least when it first came out), and the world felt very well-developed. Romance isn't the main feature, but love is a subplot throughout the series.

Try The Crow Road or any of the Culture series by Iain Banks
Anathem or Cryptonomicon by Neil Stephenson
Hyperion by Dan Simmons.

They're all quite heavy books and not all of them are SF but all excellently written.
