What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read this book between 2000-2005, but it may have been published well before that as I checked it out of the library (hardcopy). The author was a minor actress; she and her husband impulse-bought a disintegrating castle (I think -- could have been a palazzo or a villa) in Italy, moved there, and worked to restore it, and the book was about that process. I think the author was British. (She was definitely not Lorraine Bracco, who did this more recently.)

I remember that at one point, they hired people to do some work on the property despite not having any money to pay them, and then a residuals check came in for the author's old work on a British TV series -- I thought it was All Creatures Great and Small, but I looked through the cast list and the few women didn't seem to have written any books.

I also remember that the author had a daughter whose name was Iseult or Isolde who got married near the end of the book. Iseult/Isolde was 16 and the man was much older.
