Jen K | 3143 comments I attended McQuiston's talk on this book at the National Book Festival last year and was very excited to read this one. I love McQuiston's characters in Red, White & Royal Blue and throw in a culinary/ wine tour of Europe and it couldn't be missed.

Kit and Theo were besties from young when Kit first moved to California from France. He experienced culture shock but never looked back really once he found Theo, a native to the SoCal life. Despite more family moves, Kit comes back to Theo and they transition to an in love relationship until it comes crashing down on a transatlantic flight to the food/ wine tour of their dreams. Unknown to the other, they both book the last tour before their voucher expires and find themselves together again on a tour bus with a fun guide, interesting tour group and one adventure after another while trying to be cool with each other and perhaps even mend some fences.

The food, wine and travel were amazing in this book. I was constantly imagining myself in the scenery and savoring the food and drink. I am truly jealous of McQuiston getting to research culinary tours in Europe! Kit and Theo were great characters and while I enjoyed their friendship and growth and appreciated the love for each other, their interactions especially the "game" were torture when they just needed one honest talk at the start of the tour. While I expected some spice, this was a bit much for me. I enjoyed but also definitely skimmed and got a bit annoyed with the MCs.
