Hmm ... I liked Zeke pretty well, and Uncle Frank!

3. If you could change one part of the book, what would it be? (Spoiler?)

I would have cut down on the amount of Henry names there were. XD (view spoiler)[ I would have also made Henrietta less of a brat. Like, I think after being grabbed by the witch through the Endor cupboard she should have been a bit more fearful of the door. (hide spoiler)]

4. What did you think of the ending? (Spoiler tags, please!)

(view spoiler)[ I thought the climax tied most of the strings together so that everything clicked! The epilogue confused me a little, but I'm sure that's explained in the later books. (hide spoiler)]

5. What was your overall opinion?

I think it's a decent middle grade book that would be good especially for boys! I'll be keeping it in mind for any future sons I may have.

1. Who was your favorite character?

Uncle Frank was my favorite; the fact that he was so unbothered by odd happenings was funny and I wanted to know more about his backstory.

2. Who was your least favorite character?

I didn't care for Henrietta, (view spoiler)[ although her actions were admittedly necessary to move the plot forward. Her curiosity far outweighed any sense of danger or responsibility, and this made her hard to like.
Also obviously the witch was objectively the most horrible of the characters - sucking people's blood is a difficult character flaw for me to get past lol (hide spoiler)].

3. If you could change one part of the book, what would it be? (Spoiler?)

I can't think of anything very specific I would change about the book. I might add a little more space at the end to explain and process what had just happened, as it was a little abrupt.

4. What did you think of the ending? (Spoiler tags, please!)

As mentioned, the ending was a bit abrupt. Overall, however, I was satisfied with it. We got just enough answers to make some sense. The answers we got did spark more questions though. Way more questions. (view spoiler)[I was so relieved when they got rid of the witch, but I wish she had actually died, she was so horrible. I guess then there wouldn't be any material for the sequels though (hide spoiler)].

5. What was your overall opinion?

Overall, I liked it a lot. If I had read it in middle school, I feel like I would have a more polarizing opinion on it. Whether that would have been positive or negative, I cannot say; young Elena's mood swings and reading tastes were unpredictable.
Although there were slightly creepy parts of it, I think it would be a great read-aloud for most kids and will keep it in mind for my future family :)

I must once again urge you all to read the sequels. This is most definitely not a standalone book, and should not be read like one. And it's my least favorite book in the series. lol
