Looking for a sci-fi novel: "The Mind Trap" by Michael Stewart (1989?)
Hi all,
I'm trying to track down a science fiction novel I read years ago—possibly titled The Mind Trap by Michael Stewart, published around 1989. I haven’t been able to find any solid listings for it, so I’m hoping someone here might recognize it.
What I remember:
- The story centers on a genius boy who’s recruited to attend an elite school for gifted children.
- The school turns out to be a front for a secret experiment.
- The twist: the students’ minds are digitized and uploaded into a supercomputer mainframe.
- It had a very late-80s/early-90s sci-fi vibe—think Ender’s Game meets Tron with a psychological twist.
I believe the author’s name was Michael Stewart, but I’m not 100% sure. It could’ve been a small press or even a YA imprint. I read it in the late '80s or early '90s, possibly from a school library.
If anyone has info on the book, the publisher, or where I might find a copy, I’d be incredibly grateful!
