The Endless Pendulum
question
Why do we keep repeating the same political mistakes across generations?

Hi everyone,
It feels like every generation promises change — and ends up repeating the same extremes. One government swings left, the next swings right. Protests become regimes. Revolutions turn into power struggles.
Why does this cycle keep happening? Is it human nature? Is it the structure of democracy itself? Or are we just too forgetful to learn from the past?
I’ve been reflecting on these questions deeply over the past year. I'm currently in a career transition after over 10 years in the supply chain and logistics industry, and this shift gave me space to explore long-held questions about power, fear, and democracy.
I’m new to Goodreads and still finding my way around, but I’m hoping to connect with readers who enjoy deep, thoughtful discussions — especially on politics, society, and how we move forward without repeating the past.
During this time, I also wrote my first book, The Endless Pendulum, which dives into these very questions. But I’m here more to learn than to promote — and I’d love to hear your thoughts:
Can this cycle ever be broken? Or are democracies destined to swing endlessly between extremes?
