Before Trinity disappeared, she told Josie that she knew nothing about her. Through the investigation, Josie learns she was bullied, became fixated on her twin Vanessa, was devasted by her paternal grandmother’s death and kept a diary. It’s been three years…why did it take so long for this to come up? Was it Josie’s lack of curiosity or Trinity choosing to hide it?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Josie is a basically a good person, but because her childhood was so tragic she is shortsighted when it comes to other people and their past. She never thought to look beyond what she saw as Trinity's perfect childhood. Trinity, for her own reasons, chose not to enlighten Josie about it.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I felt like Josie was learning about her family slowly. It is a lot of time for them to share and catch up. Additionally, I'm not sure Josie felt secure enough to take the initiative. I think it was a combination of Josie’s lack of curiosity and Trinity choosing to hide it. Josie didn't want to push, and Trinity wasn't secure enough to share when Josie lost so much.

Susan (cruelshoes) | 158 comments I think the two are traumatized still and don't know how to talk to one another. Bringing up their childhood to each other takes courage.

Poor Josie. She went from having to construct giant walls when it came to family and overnight had four people who were showering her with love and affection. As great as that might sound, it’s a LOT for someone who experienced horrendous abuse at the hands of her so-called “mother.” Her walls are coming down but slowly. She’s made a lot of progress but she’s still a work in process. I mean, she’s calling Shannon mother and Christian father. She embraces Trinity as her sister but you’re right, she just “assumed” she had a wonderful childhood.

I don’t fault Josie for this. Trinity never showed her a different side and Josie didn’t even know to ask. I felt bad for the both of them.
