I hope everyone is having a good summer. For August BOTM, let us select novels where the author's first name starts with an "S". I look forward to seeing the nominations.

Here is a list of the previous books we have read in this group to make sure your nomination has not been a previous Book of the Month:

Rules
1. One nomination per person.
2. Poll will be set up when we reach 6 valid nominations.
3. Nominations should have been first published earlier than June 1975.
4. It would be great if you could share why you want to read this book.
5. To get a wider variety of selections, the nominations may be limited to one book per author.

Enjoy Reading,
La Tonya 📚

Abby | 1 comments Hi all! I would like to nominate “The Prose Edda: Tales from Norse Mythology” by Snorri Sturluson. I like mythology and know very little about Norse mythology outside of general pop culture references. Book is available on Hoopla and Internet Archive.

The book i want to nominate is pre-1975 but maybe it will be considered.

"Nova" by Samuel Delany. (first published 1968)
I nominate because I like sci-fi, and happen to own the book and want to read it. But moreover I like exploring some of these authors which don't get talked about as much.

Really hard pressed to nominate a different book. If this one doesn't qualify. But I suppose this other book may not qualify for the same reasons. It is probably a better nomination. So I will put it forth and ask that it be considered first for my nomination. And offer no offense, that either be rejected.

"Solaris" by Stanislaw Lem. (First published 1961)
