Nikki Hunt returns to Stillwater when the bodies of two young girls are found in a frozen cornfield and believed to be victims of the Frost Killer, a serial killer she’s been hunting. She pretty quickly determines they’re not likely to be his victims. But, it’s clear she wants to continue helping with the investigation. Why after almost a twenty-year hiatus does she want to stay one minute longer?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments That's a good question. Maybe she thought that the local cops had already worked the case for a while, and she would be able help them. Maybe she didn't think Sheriff Hardin was up for the job. If I were her, I would have left town at the first chance.

I think she's committed to finding justice for the girls once she sees their bodies. She reminds me of Eve Dallas in that aspect - it would certainly be more comfortable for her to step away, but I'm not sure she's capable of doing that. Just my opinion but I felt she was truly devoted to finding the killer. And maybe on some deeper level, she felt it was time to find some answers of her own.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I agree. She is the type of investigator who can't let go of a case once she starts. Also, deep down, I think her hometown was calling to her.

Jo Ann (jojog) | 104 comments I agree with the above comments. I would add that besides the current case, she's wanting to put some of her past to rest.

~Melissa~ | 429 comments I was wondering why she stayed as well. @Sandra you make a good point. Nikki does remind me of Eve in her determinedness to bring the killer to justice for the victims/family.

Moondance (moondance120) | 23 comments I agree that she could have stepped away when she realized it wasn't her serial killer, but she feels the need to find justice for the teens.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1803 comments I think that on a subconscious level, she wanted to deal with the trauma of her parents' murder. Her nightmares also suggest that she has reservations, even if unacknowledged, about what really happened.

The investigation into the girls' deaths were the perfect excuse and she also wanted to ensure that their killer was found.

Love all of your perspectives. I share most of them. It occurred to me that she got a whiff of Hardin not up for the investigation and she wanted justice for those girls.
