Drace (dracenines) | 7397 comments The description for the paperback edition of The Deep by Rivers Solomon (ISBN 9781534439870) is incorrect. For some reason, even though it was corrected in a cleanup thread I started for the book last year, a librarian went out of their way to undo the correct description. The description should read as follows, transcribed from the back cover of the book:

“I’m sorry,” said Yetu. “There’s so much to tell you, yet I never know where to begin. But I am ready now. I can speak. I can tell you why I did what I did and it has nothing to do with wanting to die.”

Yetu holds the memories for her people.

Her people, the wajinru – descendants of pregnant African slave women thrown overboard by slave owners – live idyllic lives in the deep. Their past, too painful to be remembered regularly, is forgotten by everyone, save one.

The memories – harrowing and wonderful, traumatic and terrible – are destroying Yetu. And so she flees to the surface, escaping her expectations and responsibilities – and discovers a world the wajinru left behind long ago.

Inspired by the hit song by clipping. (comprised of Daveed Diggs, William Hutson, and Jonathan Snipes), The Deep will resonate long after the last page is turned.

Drace (dracenines) | 7397 comments Thank you. Is there any chance you could format the paragraph excerpted from the book at the beginning the same way I formatted it in the OP so that it's differentiated from the rest of the description, as well as removing "from the back cover" from the end?
