Percy Jackson Book Club discussion

Hello, campers! I haven't done this in a while! Today we're going to talk about the weird age gap relationships in the Riordanverse.

The ships we're going to discuss are:

a) Sadie x Walter
b) Hazel x Frank
c) Calypso x Leo
d) Sadie x Anubis

The age gap of both Sadie and Walter , and Hazel x Frank is 13 and 16. And before I hear, "Oh, but it's a 3 years age gap, it's not bad!" , it's not the 3 years age gap that it's bad, it's the maturity gap that is bad! A 13 years old is a 7th/8th grader, while a 16 years old is a 10th/11th grader. It is weird to me to even have friends 2 grades below me, let alone date someone 3 grades below me. I always find these ships unnecessary and very weird. In the case of Sadie and Walter, I don't understand how Carter - Sadie's older brother - was fine with his little sister dating a boy older than him . Literally. Are you. for real. Ugh.

Calypso and Leo and Anubis and Sadie are both a ship in which someone who is thousands of years old DATES A LITERAL TEENAGER. HOW are people okay with this?

Fr. These would be okay if they were both adults but having someone who just became a teen and someone who is now able to have a driver’s license together? And having someone 1000+ with someone who’s a minor is concerning. Really wished Rick gave them different ages and if it wouldnt work with different ages then friendship

REAAAALLL. honestly i wouldnt have minded walt x sadie or hazel x frank if sadie and hazel were older or walt and frank were younger. also calypso x leo and sadie x anubis SHOULD NEVERRR work. it's literally not ok.

honestly these ships are SUPER confusing. like how did you think this would be a good idea? 😭
