Nikki gives in to her attraction to Rory and sleeps with him before the case is resolved. Was this bad judgment or inconsequential? Do you see a future for them?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments At this point in the case, I didn't think it was very smart of Nikki to get involved with Mark's brother. The timing just didn't seem right. But, Rory is a character I liked in this story. I hope to see more of him and Nikki in the future.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I was waiting for them to get together, but I hoped that it wouldn't mess up the investigation. I worried that the decision would come back and bite them. I like Rory and I'm looking forward to seeing more of him in the future.

Jo Ann (jojog) | 104 comments Not smart, but I do really like them together! I

I liked Roy from his first appearance on. He came across as sincere and just nice. I think Nikki recognized him as a "good guy" from the start and yes, the physical attraction was immediate. Probably not a smart choice to jump into his bed so quickly, but with everything else going downhill fast...I think she needed the connection and comfort she got from him. I see them as a couple going forward.

~Melissa~ | 429 comments I really liked Rory from the beginning. Don't think it was a great idea to hop into bed with him during the investigation and the reopening of original trial for her parents. Bad timing and optics. I hope we see more of them together.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1801 comments This was not smart. Getting involved with a man who is even peripherally related to the investigation is unprofessional.

I really wish authors wouldn't do this. It undermines the protagonist as an investigator. It is possible to mention the attraction but not act upon it until the case is over.

I do like Rory and hope that something develops between them. Niki needs someone she can be open and honest with.

Same. It would be nice if the first book was more about the investigator and getting to know them/their style, team, etc.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I was still wondering if the author was trying to fool us about Rory, since it was his brother who was falsely imprisoned. How could he be that nice to Nikki?

I was highly disappointed that she slept with him during the investigation. It has nothing to do with liking Rory but being professional. From what I thought I knew about Nikki, this felt out of character.
