Thanks!

Rachael (allons-y-bookworm) | 4737 comments I like when we have played scattergories before... In game form, it could be one or two prompts at a time, changing every so often?

message 3: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Saunders | 116 comments A game where the moderator starts with a book of their choice that they are reading and give s synopsis of that book. Then they put a chapter and line for the next person who picks up the book they are reading finds that chapter and line number and puts the book and what is on the line in the chat then gives a chapter and line number for the next person to pick and so on.

For example: - I am Reading Three Days in June The book is about how over three days of a wedding everything can go wrong and yet at the end everything sorts itself out.

Find chapter 9, line 10 in the book you are reading at the moment and post the name of the book and the line from the chapter and choose a new chapter and line for someone else.

I like this. We will continue to add new games each month. I'll add it to my list. Thanks

I have played a similar version with my cousin over facebook in the past where we would choose a page number, line number and count in to a word. It went like this page 46, line 10, word 5. The post the word answer and give the other person the next one.

Specific pages and line numbers would be nearly impossible for audiobook readers, unless they could access a print/ebook copy of whichever book they're reading. To include them, perhaps the game could be modified to request the first or last sentence, or nth word of that sentence, from a specific chapter.

Thanks for the idea, Jana, but how do you see that working as a forum game?

If you intended to suggest it for a future challenge idea, we are still seeking ideas for Nov. and Dec. with the themes of Pets and White. We also accept off-theme ideas, though. You can flesh out your suggestion (how would it work for the readers?) and share it in our Member Challenge Ideas threaad.

Soon we'll be looking for member ideas for our 2026 Yearly Challenges, in case you were thinking of something bigger. Watch the discussion board and our monthly messages for more info.

Thanks!
