Definitely Lucas considering he was the only character I even liked... But I did like him a fair bit.

2. Who was your least favorite character?
Hugh. That guy is very bleh.

3. If you could change one part of the book, what would it be? (Spoiler?)
Well I would change a LOT but than it wouldn't be the same style of book so yeah. 😂

Meh. lol.

5. What was your overall opinion?
Meh. 😂

I knew I wouldn't love this book when I saw it because it's a style I stay away from. But I also knew, since it was this style that it would be a fast easy read. And my team needs points. So I decided to take one for the team and just read it for the points.

I enjoyed it about as much as I expected to. 🤭

1. Who was your favorite character?

Lucas, definitely. There wasn't anything particularly brilliant or special about him, but he balanced Hester perfectly.

2. Who was your least favorite character?

It changed throughout the story a bit. Mostly it was Hester's employers and landlady, because they were ridiculously misunderstanding of every circumstance Hester got herself into. They were definitely more caricatures than real characters with any depth. Near the end of the story it changed and Hugh was my least favorite, for reasons evident to those who have read the book.

3. If you could change one part of the book, what would it be?

(view spoiler)[I didn't like the way the problem of Hugh and Hester having to get married was solved. The fact that she was able to just refuse seemed awfully convenient and didn't make sense with the magic system described throughout the story. I could have accepted it if it had been foreshadowed, but it really seemed to come out of nowhere. (hide spoiler)]

4. What did you think of the ending?

I liked the happily ever after, but I had a few problems with the way we got to it, as mentioned under the spoiler tag above.

5. What was your overall opinion?

Overall, I thought this was a cute, fun, and easy read. I will definitely read more of this author in the future.

Probably Hester! But Hugh amused me greatly. (When he wasn’t being creepy.)

The second woman that Hester worked for. (I’ve already forgotten her name.😅)

I’d make the ending longer and give more explanation.

I already kind of answered this. 😆 I enjoyed the climax and resolution, but the very end wrapped up too quickly.

I really wanted to know where Hugh had gone, and what he was doing. (Also, a little more backstory about the queen’s origins would have been nice.)

This was so much fun, and made me giggle out loud—twice! I loved the quirky style. There were a couple of twists that caught me by surprise, too! Definitely not a very deep story (although it had a few deep lines sprinkled in), but entertaining!

Ummm either Hester or Lucas! Hester made me laugh and Lucas is just a sweetheart <33

Don't really have one but maybe Hugh? Even though I adored him though...he's just so annoyingly oblivious but you can't help love him like a little brother haha!

3. If you could change one part of the book, what would it be?

Ummm maybe more explanation on the folk stuff. (view spoiler)[Also have an epilogue with the future of the Lucas and Hester... like I want more of them as a couple, and the wedding, and just royal stuff hehe! Also more on where Hugh ended up! (hide spoiler)]

Adored it and enjoyed it just as much the second time through. I was happy to finally read a BOTM with the group! Can't wait for my next future re read!
