Book (fiction or nonfiction) featuring a real historical figure
Many historical fiction and nonfiction books are set in the 1700's, 1800's or 1900's. Read a book whose page count includes 17, 18, or 19 consecutive - 318 p works, 183 pages works, but 381 does not.
A list of historical sites in a specific country, read a book with a 3+ ltr word found in the name of a site. Needs to be narrowed further, since the US has over 2000 historic sites!

Book set in one of the current day states they covered - Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon
Author first or last name is Lewis or Clark
Another thing I noticed is that many historical sites were places of death (the Roman Colosseum, the Alamo, the beaches at Normandy). Read a book where death is a major component of the book - a murder mystery, true crime, psychology, book about grieving.

RAB with a 7, 8 or 9 letter word in the title

By definition, the majority of prehistoric sites will have been built by the indigenous peoples of the various landscapes. Perhaps a book with a major character who is indigenous or from one of the First Nations.
One of the most famous sites is Stonehenge. Something like author initials in STONEHENGE, or a stone circle on the cover?
We do a good line in castles in the UK and Europe. Maybe a book with a castle on the cover? Whole castle, rather than just a turrett (I think we had a tower one a couple of seasons back).
Also, the Republic of Ireland has "Heritage Ireland" - maybe a book set on the Emerald Isle (north or south)?

Read a book with the word Forbidden or City in the title

Historic Site.Easter Island, Chile – Mysteries of Moai
Easter Island’s immense Moai statues were carved by the Rapa Nui people between the 13th and 16th centuries.

other ideas - set on a island, statue on the cover

Hagia Sophia, Turkey
Originally a cathedral, then a mosque, then a museum and now a mosque again, it’s a magnificent emblem of the city’s evolution.
The soaring domes and mosaics of glass, stone and gold leaf showcase the craftsmanship of the Christian Byzantine era, while the minarets and Islamic elements later added enhance its imposing appeal.

The bonus theme is It's A Wonderful World: Historical Sites
As in past challenges some tasks may revolve around the seasonal theme of Fall. Others may reflect the bonus theme. Other tasks may have nothing to do with either of those themes, they’re just fun or unique ideas to stimulate your reading.
Feel free to post as many ideas as you can come up with. Don’t worry about repeating what someone else has might have already suggested. The more ideas, the better!
The moderators will draw from these ideas as well as their own to create the 5, 10 and 15 point tasks. This thread will be open for ideas until August 15 . Fall tasks will begin to be posted on August 20. We look forward to seeing what you come up with!
