Laksshya Guptaa | 21 comments Hi Megan,

Thank you so much for your interest in beta reading! I saw your post and would love to invite you to read my novel Something Between Us. While it leans more toward contemporary/dark romance than fantasy or historical fiction, I believe the emotional depth, slow-burn intensity, and layered character dynamics might resonate with your love for coming-of-age themes and meaningful relationships.

About the Book:
Something Between Us is a dark, character-driven romance following a resilient marketing executive marked by a violent past and a secretive media mogul carrying emotional scars of his own. What begins as a failed blind date evolves into a slow-burning connection that forces both of them to face their trauma, identity, and what it truly means to be seen—and loved—for who they are.

This is book one in The Between Us Series, though it reads as a standalone. As of now, I’ve completed 61 chapters (approx. 250,000 words) and am still editing the final few chapters. I’d really appreciate your thoughts on the completed part of the manuscript—especially as I finalize the rest. I can provide it in Google Docs or PDF format, depending on your preference. I also have a feedback guide if you’d like a more structured way to share your thoughts.

If this sounds like something you’d enjoy reading—even if it’s a bit outside your usual genre—I’d be truly grateful for your time and perspective.

Let me know if you’re interested!
Warmly,
Laksshya

Murray Weber | 32 comments I would like to offer my book to an interested beta reader. It is a CIA undercover thriller with an enemies-to-lovers subplot. 70,000 words

Revenge Doesn’t Sleep
He hunted a killer. But the lies hunted him.

Blurb
From the age of ten, Matt Cavallo lived for one thing—revenge. The man he called father died in a fiery car bombing, a brutal message from Sicilian crime lord Antonio Moretti, lashing out over the shame of a wife's affair. The explosion that killed them shattered two families. Matt was left an orphan. Sofia Moretti, Antonio’s daughter, was left without a mother.

From eighteen, Matt had been forged into a weapon inside the U.S. military’s elite special operations. When the CIA offered him an off-the-books mission to infiltrate Moretti’s fentanyl empire spanning the globe—he didn’t hesitate. This was the path to justice… or vengeance.

But Sofia complicates everything. Beautiful, intelligent, and unaware of her father’s criminal world, she may be Matt’s way in—or the only person who can undo him.

As Matt descends deeper into Moretti’s empire, he walks a razor’s edge between mission and obsession. Each step brings him closer to the truth and to a final reckoning with the man who orchestrated his father’s murder and drove his mother to suicide.

Perfect for fans of David Baldacci, Tom Wood, and James Patterson—Revenge Doesn’t Sleep is a pulse-pounding, emotionally charged thriller where truth is as slippery as the past it tries to bury.

Ms. C | 23 comments My name is Mary and I have a manuscript for a novel called "Mullo". I am looking for beta readers to read and critique it, and I saw your advertisement in a Goodreads "Beta Reader Group". I would describe "Mullo" as historical fiction, horror, romance (LGBT). It goes back and forth between a story that takes place in the past and one that takes place in the present. Here is a blurb I wrote for it:

"THEN
In 19th century Romania, death is always just around the corner. Zorya, a Roma healer woman, knows this well. But when a stranger unexpectedly calls on her expertise, she, her husband, and her children, find themselves in a place they were once forbidden from entering. But even as their life becomes more stable and prosperous, it may only take one tragedy for things to fall apart."

"NOW
Nick Alicea isn’t having a bad day. He’s having a bad life. Stuck in a dead-end job, drowning in debt, and haunted by a tragedy from his past, he's struggling. So, when a chance encounter leads to a friendship with Mirza Durvari, a quiet doctor with a mysterious illness, Nick’s life starts to seem a little less bleak. But even as their relationship becomes more intimate, Nick is forced to ask himself: Who is Mirza Durvari?"

The entire manuscript is 125,000 words. Let me know if you are interested in beta reading.

Looking forward to hearing from you..

~Mary

Victor | 3 comments Hello, my name is Victor and I've just joined the group... today actually! I had no idea such an animal existed! I have a 20K word true life transatlantic Parisian romance story. I'm not looking for a hard edit, I'd just like to know if the story makes sense, is focused and is compelling. Anything else is frosting on the cake. Below is the description. Please let me know if there is some interest.

Thank you.

On a fateful New Year's Eve 1999, while pouring beer at an Outback Steakhouse outside of Washington, Victor glimpses the Paris millennial celebration on CNN and vows to visit the City of Lights—unaware it will change his life forever.

What begins as a solo adventure to Paris six months later leads him to the grandeur of Versailles, where a chance encounter with petite but pouting tour guide, Michelle, sparks an instant connection. Intrigued by her knowledge of art and history, Vincent gives her his card, hoping for a follow-up, but none comes.

Weeks later, back in Atlanta, an unexpected email from Michelle ignites a passionate transatlantic correspondence that evolves into visits, shared dreams, and a four-year long-distance romance filled with travel, passion, heartbreak and perseverance. When Michelle ends things, Vincent must confront his fears, leading to history’s most unromantic proposal and a rushed courthouse wedding.

Yet their path to happiness is fraught with challenges…
Vincent's failed startups pile on debt, Michelle battles debilitating panic attacks and migraines, and devastating miscarriages test their bond.

From the highs of starting new adventures and a life filled with art, travel and history to the lows of crushed dreams and family loss, together they navigate life’s challenges, ultimately ending up where their story began. At stake is their chance at a shared life against odds that threaten to tear them apart.
Discover how serendipity and resilience turned a bartender's whim into an enduring Parisian fairy tale—read Victor Goes to Versailles today.

Hi Meg!

Thanks for offering to beta read! I would love to get your insights on my novel. It is a slow-burn, romance, fantasy focused on world building and lore. I would love some feedback on sections of the piece. Please see the attached description below.

The Kingdom of Seylinali has been crippled by the Witches’ curse for nearly five hundred years. Monarchs are bound to the throne, and war threatens to ignite at any moment as the Triad continues. Every eighty years, all Occultists who have ascended their power, must compete in a series of trials. The victors will break the Witches’ curse.
So far, all this competition has brought is death and anger.
The Wall stands at the edge of her world—separating mortals from the magical creatures beyond, concealing their existence. RaeLynn Vyrathal, nearing the end of her tenure as a guard, questions her path forward. She is unaware of her true power, her heritage, and that her future has already been decided. She is to participate in a tournament she’s never heard of, for a kingdom she doesn’t know exists.

Let me know if you are interested and I hope to hear from you :)

All my best,
Flynn

Ann M | 5 comments Hi i have a complete 89k memoir Healing, Love & Life

Healing, Love & Life is a deeply personal, first-person narrative that follows Stacy’s journey through trauma, survival, and the slow rediscovery of love and self-worth.

After years of abuse that left her small, quiet, and afraid, Stacy finally escapes—for her children, if not for herself. Together, they start over, facing the daily struggle of building a new life from the ground up. Just when she begins to find her footing, Gary enters her world. He isn’t a savior, but his patience and kindness challenge everything Stacy thought she knew about love and trust.

The story explores the messy, non-linear path of healing—how past trauma can resurface, how doubt and fear linger, and how loving again can both heal and hurt. When Stacy pushes Gary away, the loss feels shattering—but it also becomes a turning point, forcing her to find strength not just in others, but in herself.

This is not a fairytale romance. It’s a raw, emotional story about survival, resilience, motherhood, and the courage it takes to keep believing in love—even when it doesn’t come with a perfect ending.

If this is something you are interested in please let me know, thank you.

Butter Fingers | 5 comments Hi Megan!

I have a contemporary young adult coming of age/slow-burn psychological thriller that delves into themes of emotional abuse and sibling bonds. It is loosely based off my own experience.

There are a few triggers: suicide, animal death, violence, strong language, emotional abuse, drug references, and mental illness. There is no sexual content.

Right now, I'm looking for feedback on the second novel in the series, Heartless (78k words). The first book will be published in the next month. However, I'm certainly happy to provide a copy of it as well so you know what's going on!

I'm fairly flexible with the timeframe. Please let me know you're interested, or if you'd like to sample the first few chapters.

Thanks!
