Team Challenge
September 2025 - November 2025

Please consult the Toy Chest of Dread for your first toy selection. This is in the 3rd tab of your spreadsheet. Post your team name and the answer that the Toy Chest supplies you at the Occult Museum (check in thread).

Team
Kat
Rachel G
Michelle

SS: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

Rules
⛓️Each toy/object has specific chains and/or tasks that need to be completed.
Examples:
1. Create a chain of 3 using titles consecutively (ABC)
-All the Light We Cannot See
-Becoming Mrs. Lewis
-Catching Fire
2. Create a chain of 3 with "dog" in the titles
-Shoe Dog: A Memoir by the Creator of Nike
-The Dog Stars
-Hot Dog Girl

⛓️One person should NOT complete a whole chain by themselves. This is a team challenge. However, if a toy/object has multiple chains and a slower reader can only/want to only read for 1 or 2 chains (they must read at least one), then the other two faster readers on the team can complete the other chains between the two of them.
⛓️You may choose which toy/object from the list to capture first but you MUST complete it BEFORE starting a new toy/object.
⛓️You may use or drop articles: A, An, The
⛓️Standard Rules Apply
⛓️Since you have chosen to play non-competitively, you will play a self-paced game. You may choose to stop any time you want or continue until you have completed all toys/objects.

🎭✨ A Whisper from Belladonna Belle ✨🎭

“Well, well, well… look who managed to wrangle every last teammate into the haunted halls of check-in! I must say, that kind of dedication warms even my porcelain heart. 💀🖤

Teams who move as one are rare in this carnival of sinister toys and restless relics. You’ve proven yourselves worthy of a standing ovation (and perhaps a watchful eye 👀 from the Toymaker’s shadows).

Keep it up, darlings—after all, the real challenge is making sure no one gets left behind in the dark…”

🎃💀 Congratulations, fully-checked-in teams! 💀🎃

Kat dear,

Your team has already chosen its first toy. We are only waiting on the two individual players to choose. You will get your tasks later today.

11. Jumanji
description
The Jumanji board game is a mysterious and magical game that serves as the central catalyst for adventure and chaos in the Jumanji films and original picture book by Chris Van Allsburg.

At first glance, Jumanji appears to be an antique, beautifully crafted wooden board game with ornate carvings, a central green-glowing dome, and sliding animal totems as game pieces. Its tagline warns players:
“A game for those who seek to find, a way to leave their world behind.”

But Jumanji is no ordinary game. Once the first dice are rolled, it unleashes real-world consequences based on each move: stampeding animals, violent weather, quicksand, giant insects, jungle vines, and other perilous phenomena spill into reality, threatening both players and their surroundings. The game cannot be paused or stopped, only completed. The only way to end the chaos is for someone to reach the final space and yell, "Jumanji!"

The game possesses a dark sentience, pulling players into its world (or bringing its world to them), and has a reputation for lying in wait, ready to tempt the next curious soul. Equal parts thrilling and dangerous, the Jumanji board game is as much a test of courage and friendship as it is of survival.

Roll to Survive
You didn’t mean to open it.
It looked old, maybe even beautiful—carved wood, green-glowing center, and that line etched across the top:
“A game for those who seek to find, a way to leave their world behind.”

Now the room is shaking.
There are vines in your bookshelf.
And something is watching from the ceiling.

You have three rolls to make it out alive.
You cannot skip your turn.
You must finish the game.
You don’t win. You survive.

🎲 How to Play:
The dice are in your hands, but make no mistake—the game is in control.
Roll two six-sided dice (2d6) three times.
Each roll will give you a number from 2 to 12.
https://www.online-stopwatch.com/chan...#

For every number you roll, the board will unleash one challenge.
You must complete three tasks total—one per roll.
You may not skip. You may not reroll. The board does not care for hesitation.

When you're ready to begin, post in the Occult Museum (Check-In Thread) with:
Your Team Name
Your three rolls
A link to your team’s tracking spreadsheet

Once you've declared your fate, the jungle listens.
The vines creep. The drums beat.
And the game... begins.

5 – Eyes in the Trees
Don’t look up.
Read a book where someone is being hunted, followed, or watched.

9 – Jungle Knows Your Fears
It always chooses what you hate most.
Read a book that includes your least favorite trope or genre. Suffer, sweetly.

11 – Roll for Escape
You’re running out of time.
Read a book where someone is escaping, portal-traveling, or trying to get home.

message 27: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 318 comments I have the perfect book for Eyes in the Trees that I plan to start this week.

You guys are playing a mini-game. Notice that they are NOT chains. You DO NOT have to follow Belle's Rule for mini-games.

I'm sorry, Kat. I didn't mean to confuse you. Did I clear it up for you in the Q&A? It was just a general rule for the mini-games. The instructions for your mini-games override it.

You didn’t, but that’s not your fault that’s mine as sometimes I just don’t understand what things mean.

Michelle | 1938 comments RachelG. wrote: "Are you okay with reading Roll for Escape Michelle?"

Sure am. I work strange hours so if I don't respond just go ahead and roll or choose whatever we have to do. I normally have no problem with completing whatever task that's given.

RachelG. | 318 comments I am hoping to finish my book later today. It's really good and has a possessed doll that made me think of this challenge.

Do we want to have the last person who finishes check us in? If not I don't mind doing that job as I am often around.

message 40: by Kat (new)

Kat (bookworm2017) | 1459 comments I’d say yeah, I’m gonna be another few days can’t say how many as I’m busy at work a lot , unless you’ve read a book that’s not ur noemal genre

message 41: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 318 comments It's no problem Kat and no rush. I signed up to do non-competitive so I didn't have to feel like I needed to move at a furious pace. I just figured I would throw my question out there for once we do finish.

message 42: by Kat (new)

Kat (bookworm2017) | 1459 comments Thanks I appreciate that

message 43: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 1938 comments Sorry..I've been busy at work to or I would have responded sooner. That would be great if the last person to finish would check us in. I'm not in a huge hurry either. If you find that you can't just let me know and I can do it since I 'm here at least once a day. If it takes you a bit to finish a book, it's not that big of a deal. We are NC so take whatever time you need. The only thing that I ask is (1) Not to be ghosted & (2) Just a small update every once in a while letting everyone know that you are still working on your book. I ask that because I've been burned many times on several challenges where people have completely flaked out on me.

message 44: by Kat (new)

Kat (bookworm2017) | 1459 comments I’d never do that to yous. I’m still working on the book. It’s not my usual genre so takes a bit more time to read.

If I may interrupt your conversation... I would like to point out that we are combating the ghosting issue pretty aggressively. We got tired of it ourselves. We hate putting all this work into a challenge only to see someone like Michelle here upset when her teammates ghost on her, and she is left out of a challenge or needs new teammates. We can't always find new ones. We have a few members who currently CANNOT join team and partner challenges due to ghosting challenges. We are tracking every infraction and will continue to do so. I hope that helps. However, Michelle, I don't recall either of your current teammates flaking in one of my challenges. I think you will make it through this one.

Thank you for all the hard work you and the other mods do!

@Michelle: I'm sorry you have had teammates ghost you. I enjoy being an active teammate and really appreciate when I'm on a team who is communicative.
