Welcome, MacKenzie! I'm glad that this is your first GR group discussion. Thanks for choosing us as your first. :) I hope to see your thoughts in the coming threads.

Lindenblatt | 56 comments Looking forward to reading my second Charles Dickens novel with this group (the 8th in total). Hope it will be as engaging as last year's group reading of Barnaby Rudge 😊 I will just need to read ahead a little as I need to be finished by the 15th October.

Welcome, Lindenblatt. It's fine to read ahead. I've already started :) It's easy when you are a little ahead to lead the discussion. :) Please keep some notes if you can to engage with our discussion in later weeks. The threads come weekly to avoid spoilers.

Wow, Pamela! Congratulations, and welcome! This is my 11th Dickens novel.

message 10: by MacKenzie (new)

MacKenzie Morrison (mackenzie_morrison) | 3 comments Wow, Pamela! That's impressive! So is 11. While I have the full Heron Centennial Edition of all Dickens works, as well as some first editions and early copies, this will be my first attempt at actually reading one.

message 11: by Beda (new)

Beda Warrick | 37 comments Been waiting for this all year! I had a lot of fun reading Barnaby Rudge with this group last year!

This will be my 6th or 7th Dickens novel, depending upon if you count A Christmas Carol. Dickens is turning out to be one of my favorite authors, so I’m excited to read this.

I recently retrieved the two volume hardback edition of this book from the loft, so I’ll be reading along too.

I don’t know whether I’ve mentioned this before, but Charles Dickens bought a cottage for his parents and it happens to be in the same road as where we live in Devon, five minutes walk actually.
