Nancy (truthfulreviewer) | 13 comments Today is National Book Lover's day!
August 9th. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/bo...

Which type of book do you prefer, and what is your age group?
Hardback or paperback books
e-books
audiobooks
I prefer real hardback or paperback books.
under 25 years, 25-34 years, 35-44 years, 45-54 years, 55-64 years, and 65 years and more.
My age group is over 65 years old.

Betsie Ann | 3 comments Same. I much prefer physical books, hardcover or softcover.
I am in the under 25 age range, which is maybe the exception for this group? I'm not sure...

message 3: by Franky (new)

Franky | 82 comments I tend to like paperbacks, very convenient to bring around places if you want to read. And I agree I'm more of a physical book fan too. I'm in the 45-54 year old category.

Theresa | 35 comments Which type of book do you prefer, and what is your age group?

I read either ebooks or print books -- hardcover, trade paperback size preferably as mass market paperbacks have print that is too smalll for my eyes these days, LOL. Which is pretty funny since I'm a lawyer, still practicing law, and 'fine print' is everywhere. However, for non-professional reading, I much prefer easy on the eyes spacing and print.

As you no doubt can guess from that, I am older - turn 70 on the 19th August!

For the record although I think most of you know this about me, I do not care for audiobooks at all - they only work for me if I've already read the book and on long trips when driving/flying/riding. Even then I need to switch up any listening to include music and some comedy performances -- I have cds of Bob Newhart, Mike Nicolls & Elaine May performing their classic comedy routines that are so entertaining. Since cd players in cars are non-existant any more, I probably should see if I can download them.

Sue | 1140 comments I read both ebooks and print. And in print, I guess I prefer hardcover unless it’s a quality paperback. I like the ability to vary the font with ebooks. This is somewhat less important since I had cataract surgery done.

I’m over 65. One reason, well two actually, I use more ebooks in recent years is my belonging to NetGalley and the ease of borrowing library books digitally.

Theresa | 4 comments I prefer real books and I am in the over 50's group

Katy | 285 comments I prefer print books. I buy mostly paperbacks because I have so many books already, and paperbacks take up less rooom. But I do have an ereader and I do buy ebooks once in awhile. I am over 65.

John (jdourg) | 348 comments I used to enjoy trade paperbacks, but these days I prefer to read books on my iPad. I purchase Nook books from Barnes & Noble and read them on my iPad using the Nook app.

Several reasons. If I see a book I want to read, I can purchase it while sitting in my chair and start reading immediately. The brightness of the page and the size of the type can be adjusted for my eyes.

I am in the 55-64 group.

Wow! We now have a 2nd 'Theresa' spelled the 'correct' way!

That's never happened to me before in any group, or even much in real life. Welcome!

Jackie Johnson (jrjohnson1408) | 1 comments I will read/listen to books in any format although I dislike paperbacks (because they usually won’t stay open flat). I read on the Kindle or Libby app on my phone while at work, switch to Audible while doing chores or crocheting, and read hardcovers or my Kindle at night.
My age group is 45-54.

message 11: by Paul (new)

Paul Weiss | 364 comments My preference is paperbacks with an additional stronger preference for the trade paperback size. I used to read e-books but came to dislike the format and now very rarely read anything other than print books. Occasionally I will read along with an audio book (particularly the classics such as Charles Dickens) but I never listen to an audio book stand alone.

I am in the 65+ age group.

Sam | 444 comments Over 65 and I like the combination of ebook and audio, reading and listening at an increased speed.

message 14: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen | 488 comments I am in the 65+ group and strongly prefer physical books--either paperback or hardback. I see the advantages of e-books, and will sometimes read in that format if paper books are not available. I realize many people see them as a hindrance, but I like everything about physical books: carrying them around, pulling them off library shelves, filling my house with bookshelves, reading them sitting in a chair with a cup of tea. :-)

I sometimes do audio for non-fiction, but when it comes to fiction, which is primarily what I read, audio is an absolute last resort for me, as my mind wanders and I miss being able to look back.

Good to hear, a younger person preferring physical books with paper pages. Nice to hear.

I tried e-books like you, but didn't like them. I have 2 Kindles, too, but they just end up collecting dust on the shelf. Isn't that interesting that many people didn't become comfortable with the electronic format, or with audiobooks?

The e readers are helpful for a few reasons, and being able to increase the font size is good.

Happy Birthday in one more day!! I hope you have a lot of fun, and that someone gives you a gift certificate to buy more books!

message 20: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (truthfulreviewer) | 13 comments This has been a lot of fun! Thank you for replying, and for the details. I am so happy to hear that print books, paperbacks, hardbacks, are NOT a thing of the past. Lovely!!
