I love a good multi-generational story! What books have you read that follow a family through multiple generations?

Cheryl (cherylllr) | 387 comments I don't like epics, but how about a reasonably long/complex story that has at least three generations working/living together at the same time?

I can't think of any offhand, but I'd love to read more of 'em....

Random (rand0m1s) | 1247 comments Two come to mind immediately.

The Skolian Empire series by Catherine Asaro. At least 3 generations of main POV characters.

There's also the stand alone Nothing Human by Nancy Kress. its been a while so I can't remember exact details, but this also goes through a handful of generations.

Not sure the many generations of evolving spiders in Adrian Tchaikovsky’s Children of Time is quite what you’re looking for, but it’s what popped into my head when I read the question! 🕷️😁

Why not? :)

The first thing that comes to mind for me is an old favorite, The Chronicles of the Cheysuli by Jennifer Roberson. I haven't read them in a long time - I'm a little afraid it won't stand up to a re-read - but I always loved how it followed the family through many generations (six, I think?).

Out of genre, Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi is brilliant.

All I can recall about that series is that I loved it!

I have the whole series sitting on my bookshelf, but I haven't read them in years and years. Maybe I'll pick them up again sometime soon.
