Chapter Title: Introduction:My opening speech
Read- Summer 2025
Summary (2–3 sentences):
Introduces us to a ostentation of a courtroom scenario the anonymous Writer personally experienced. The chapter explored his personal approach including his persuasion of the jury, entrapment of the victim, Mr Tuttle, and mental meditations as he enjoyed a case victory.
Interesting Case/Example:
I found it interesting how he utilised the physical attributes of Mr Tuttle to emphasise his persuasion, despite its lack of legality, it provoked empathy for the victim of assault rather than the victim of prosecution.
Reflection/Opinion (2–3 sentences):
I enjoyed visualising the courtroom world and appreciated his colloquial yet detailed style of writing which allows us to heavily connect with the writer whilst engaging with the story, introducing us to the law world through the writer's entrance as our mediator to its expansive nature.
Connection to Law/LNAT:
This chapter could be used in LNAT essays or interviews to show how legal outcomes can be influenced by persuasion, bias, and performance — raising questions about the balance between justice and showmanship in adversarial trials. It also introduces ethical concerns in legal practice, which are valuable to reflect on in personal statements.

Chapter Title: The Wild west:Magistrates court
Read- August 2025
Summary (2–3 sentences):
The author discusses the interesting and lackluster aspects of the magistrates court. The author holds a negative perspective of these courts due to its cheap and fast approach to the endeavor of Justice and shames the magistrate system as they are not educated in the matters of law.
Interesting Case/Example:
The role of the magistrate judge to act as judge and jury and their uneducated characters that fulfill the role. Furthermore the cost effective approach to societal justice that can manipulate the life of man.
Reflection/Opinion (2–3 sentences):
It was interesting to read about the process of the courts my Dad was going to potentially partake in, however I feel like reform is required to the magistrates court such as having one district judge rather than legal advisor to aid within that court to be the centre of legal advice but to uphold tradition and honest democracy maintain other magistrates to aid in decision making(moreover, to introduce their dictation with “Our decision is dictated to be innocent/guilty”)
Connection to Law/LNAT:
This Chapter has allowed me to study the lower bound of the British criminal law system, furthering my knowledge and interest as the chapter has now given me the ability to assess and evaluate courts while using my knowledge from the previous chapter to highlight my contention.

Chapter Title:Imprisoning the innocent: Remand and Bail
Read-August 2025
Summary (2–3 sentences):
The Barrister describes the fatal consequence of remand through his personal experience with the character Rio, who, potentially innocent, had his life completely destroyed, not disrupted, as girlfriends and relations grow more distant as his liberty is withdrawn from his grasp.
Interesting Case/Example:
The use of Rio and signifying the months of time he spent in remand which destroyed his life.
Reflection/Opinion (2–3 sentences):
The case example and the Barristers emotive language amplified the value of bail and emphasised the value of societal freedom showing how the law is a great tool to uphold this liberty, however trial management and political spending prohibits the magnification of law which donates liberation
Connection to Law/LNAT:
This has helped me understand the significance of bail and therefore aiding the accused, inspiring me to greaten my legal education.
