Hello! I'm looking for free beta and/or sensitivity readers willing to give general feedback on my clean romance/mystery. What did you like dislike about the story? Are the characters relatable? Any plot holes? Etc. Feel free to PM me or comment with questions or if you’re interested. A copy of the manuscript will be shared via Google Docs. Thanks in advance!
Genre: Clean romance + Mystery with a bit of Historical Fantasy (no magic) 81k words Dual 3rd person POV No sex, just kisses. Non-graphic violence One of the main characters is a paraplegic and the other has social anxiety Possible triggers: childhood abandonment (off-page) kidnapping (mostly off-page)
I’d like a beta to read the full manuscript, but I’m also open to a partial read. Or, if you want, you can do the first few chapters to start then decide if you want to beta read the rest.
Full Book Synopsis:
Daniel Johnson, handsome, charming, and heir to a viscountcy, is one of the most sought-after bachelors in the kingdom. That is until a dark family secret and a life-changing accident leave his future entirely uncertain. Desperate for an escape, he agrees to marry a stranger in the neighboring kingdom of Litoreus, with the goal of living a quiet life and removing himself from the control of the people who betrayed him.
Despite being the granddaughter of an earl, Lady Serephina is more comfortable tinkering in her workshop than trying to dazzle a ballroom. She agrees to marry a stranger in hopes that her new husband, with his good connections and easy manners, will help her in navigating the overwhelming social whirl. Instead, Daniel remains a cold stranger even more withdrawn than she is.
But when a friend disappears from a house party under suspicious circumstances, Daniel and Serephina must join forces to discover the truth. As their investigation unfolds, perhaps the most surprising discovery is their growing fondness for each other, and what started as a marriage of convenience turns into an indispensable partnership. But Daniel still has his secret, the truth of which could destroy everything. And as they close in on a villain in their midst, it’s not only their love that’s threatened, but also their very lives.
In the fourth stand-alone installment of the Fallen Stars series, you’ll be skirted away to an island kingdom absent of magic, but full of mystery, intrigue, sweet romance, and adventure. Blending historical romance and fantasy with a healthy dose of mystery, readers young and old are sure to enjoy this clean and wholesome story.
