Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1803 comments I enjoyed the story and the characters. However, I still have problems with Green's writing. She has yet to find a good balance between too much foreshadowing (Maggie's behavior) and too little foreshadowing (the sudden inclusion of the David Webster case, which comes out of nowhere). She did the same thing in the previous book with the details about Bobby's father's death.

There are also some awkward word choices and poor sentence structure that a good editor would catch.

I'm reading the Josie Quinn books at the same time, and Lisa Regan is a better writer.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I'm enjoying this series. I like that the FBI can work with the local law enforcement (Sheriff Miller) without constantly butting heads.

Moondance (moondance120) | 23 comments I'm enjoying the series. I got a bit behind last month and just finished the book a couple of days ago. I'm ready to jump back into the next story. I don't believe it involves dead children. I work with kids and that is often hard to read.

I’m enjoying it, too. Green’s history is in writing from the male point of view and her Delta Crossroads Trilogy is excellent, as well as the novella spinoffs. She had another series where the main character was female but she was morally gray and fascinating. All of those books were written and released independently.

I’m beginning to think it’s the Bookouture editors that have a formulaic plan because Green’s writing and plotting was so sharp when she didn’t have a publisher. And, they’re smart enough to leave Angela Marsons and DI Kim Stone alone.
