Amanda Edgar | 14 comments Hi, I'm brand new to this group. I just looked over the Fall 2025 tasks, and there are so many of them! Are you supposed to read a different book for every task? If so, how many books do people in this group typically read per season? I'm in a doctoral program, so when it comes to pleasure reading, it usually takes me at least a month or two to finish one book lol

There are a lot of tasks and yes a different book for each. Some read for all the tasks, some read only a couple of books. it differs from person to person.

You choose what you would like to read and how many you would like to read.

Got it, thank you! Maybe this will motivate me to read more frequently when I have downtime then :)

Kathy KS | 2381 comments This is supposed to be fun. For most, it's not a competition; you are the only one decided how much or how little you read. It's rather like golf (and some other sports) where you actually are playing to see if you can better your own score, more than having to compete.

I saw that someone posted their first book an hour or so ago. On the other hand, some actually finish each season. I have actually only finished once since I started about 10 years ago!

As a side idea, I also have my own rules for myself. I have a huge, ever-growing TBR. I have three supplements I rotate: one season I reader the shortest books on my list that I can find to match the tasks; the next season I read my favorite authors as much as possible; and the third season I read the books that have been on my TBR longest. This just makes it all fun when I plan my books. Of course, I'm a retired librarian, so this takes the place of playing games...

Have fun with it! Good luck on the doctoral program...
