Sundar R (rsundar) | 3 comments Kamala boards the Vande Bharat Express train from Chennai to Mysore, with a valid ticket and a quiet need for rest. She’s a transgender solopreneur from Pozhichalur, an obscure suburb of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, hauling water to her loyal clients for decades. Her seatmate? A CMD under fire for endorsing the 90-hour work week.

What follows is not a confrontation, but a slow, layered reckoning. Labour. Gender. Dignity. Spirituality. Survival. Kamala doesn’t ask for sympathy. She asks for respect.

Ninety Hours of Desire is a novel that listens. It reframes work ethic, punctures corporate theatre, and explores how identity and quiet rebellion can flourish even in the cracks of a hyper-structured society.

If you’ve ever felt unseen in a room full of metrics, this story might walk beside you.

Would love to hear your thoughts especially on how fiction can hold space for labour and trans narratives without turning them into spectacle.

"Ninety Hours of Desire" is my latest novel under the series "The Mad Rush Outside Madras", published in Amazon, Flipkart and Notion Press. I would like all to read this and provide your feedback.
