Hello everyone,

I hope everyone had a great first week of September. If you're in the US I hope you had a good long holiday weekend. There is definitely a fall feel in the air and the days are noticeably shorter here.

I finished reading The New Menopause: Navigating Your Path Through Hormonal Change with Purpose, Power, and Facts. It was a very fast read as about half the book is describing a symptom, how it presents, why it happens and offering some solutions. So that half was very fast for me.

On my kindle I finished two short stories Eerie Basin: A Short Story and Bad Date: A Short Story. They were both Amazon first read bonus stories and were okay. Of the two I liked Eerie Basin more because it was a more complete story even if I don't usually care for the horror-like genre.

I restarted Food for Thought: Essays and Ruminations. I like essays because they're short and offer a lot of easy stopping points.

I'm still listening to Project Hail Mary. I'm still loving it as much as the first time but now in the different format.

QOTW:
Did anyone else watch The Thursday Murder Club movie last week?

We watched it on Thursday and had been eagerly anticipating it. We enjoyed it. But I would have preferred a mini-series as 2 hours felt far too short to do enough character development. More time would have added depth to the story.

Jen W. (piratenami) | 362 comments Hello, all. I'm officially on vacation. We're heading out on Tuesday.

Finished:
Lessons in Magic and Disaster by Charlie Jane Anders - 4 stars - not for a prompt. A contemporary fantasy about a trans grad student who teaches her mother how to do magic to try to bring her out of her depression after the death of her mother's wife. This is a story about trauma, grief, and healing. I quite enjoyed it.

Currently reading:
The Butcher of the Forest by Premee Mohamed - not currently for a prompt

Upcoming/Planned:
Hemlock & Silver by T. Kingfisher - not currently for a prompt

A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna - not currently for a prompt

QOTW:
No, I haven't read the book and had no idea it was going to be a movie.
