Flo (daredeviling) | 225 comments This book was okay. It's your standard murder mystery complete with an unreliable main character who thinks she's over her trauma, cops who think she's crazy, and plenty of red herrings and of course, dead girls. tl;dr Chloe's dad confessed and was convicted of killing six girls twenty years ago. She hasn't had any contact with him since then, and she thinks that she's put her past behind her. But when girls start getting murdered again at the 20th anniversary of the original murders, she realizes that perhaps the past hasn't quite let go of her yet.

I was mostly annoyed with Chloe throughout this entire book. She keeps inserting herself into situations even when she was alienating everyone around her, and she clearly had an addiction to pills that she could not admit to herself, which isn't particularly helpful when trying to solve some murders. She also kept blaming herself for something that obviously wasn't her fault, and I could have done without the constant self guilting that went on until pretty much the last chapter.

She and Daniel also just need to actually fucking communicated. So much of this novel could have been avoided if the two of them had just talked to each other, like an actual functioning couple. (view spoiler) I guess it's good that everything worked out in the end, but it wasn't really like Chloe actually worked anything out, it all just sort of got explained to her.

There's not much else to say about this book. Almost everyone sucked, but yay that the murder was solved?
