Mary (literarypiesociety) I figure I should put together a list of all the the folders that this group has and what their uses are.

Write!:
This folder is for posting anything from your favorite writing tip, to asking each others help on brainstorming your novel.

Your Novel:
Here is where you can talk about your novel, and another place where you can ask for help on it.

Novel Excerpts:
Post your novel excerpts! We all would love to see them. :)

Critiques:
This is a place where you can post if you want someone to critique your writing. Critiques are so helpful!

Fangirling:
Don't tell me you don't know how to fangirl.
Here you can fangirl about books and their characters, or about your book and characters.

Favorite Books:
Talk about your favorite books, the books you are reading, and books you want to read.

Random chatter:
Here you can chat about anything and everything. Have fun! :D

Anna Could you start a folder where people can post their writing for feedback?

You would post that in Critiques. Getting feedback for your writing is pretty much the same thing as getting a critique. :)

Anna I'm afraid I don't see that folder? :/

I haven't posted anything in the folder yet, so if you aren't seeing it on the main page of the group that is why. If you want to post something there, hit the start new topic button, and when you go to post, make sure you pick which folder you want it posted in. It should be listed under Novel Excerpts.
I hope that helped, if it didn't let me know. :)

Anna Thanks!

Sierra | 22 comments I think it would be cool to have a topic where we could share writing contests and challenges and stuff like that, but I'm not sure where to put it.

message 8: by Mary (new)

Mary (literarypiesociety) Hmm, great idea. I have thought about having little contests on here too. Maybe we would put that under games? What do you guys think?

message 9: by Sierra (new)

Sierra | 22 comments I think if we do contests on here we should have a seperate contests folder. I meant other writing contests outside of goodreads, like the Monday's minute challenge on christiswrite.blogspot.com, or the character encounters on knittedbygodsplan.blogspot.com, and stuff like that

Mary (literarypiesociety) Yeah. So then maybe just a folder for prompts? Then maybe once a week we can post a prompt on there and who ever wants to can write something based off of it. We wouldn't judge or anything, it would be just a fun thing to do.

message 11: by Sierra (new)

Sierra | 22 comments That sounds fun :D Who would do the prompts? Should we have a topic in the prompts folder for suggestions for the weekly prompt? And would other online contests go in the prompts folder as well?

message 12: by Mary (new)

Mary (literarypiesociety) Good questions. I don't know. My first thought would be to find out who all would be interested in doing it and then each week we take turns picking out a prompt. But I like the idea of having place where people can suggest prompts.

Sierra | 22 comments Maybe there could be a place to suggest prompts and then we could do a poll and everybody who was interested in participating could vote for which prompt it would be that week?

message 14: by Mary (new)

Mary (literarypiesociety) That sounds like a great idea! :D I'll make a folder for it right now.

Sierra | 22 comments Awesome :D

message 16: by Dionne (new)

Dionne | 2 comments Bi I barely started here. So, one can post their work in progress and see how it works and stuff?

Mary (literarypiesociety) Dionne wrote: "Bi I barely started here. So, one can post their work in progress and see how it works and stuff?" I am assuming that you are asking if you can post your wip on this board. You are more than welcome to post your wip here. I wouldn't recommend posting the whole thing. Maybe just post a chapter or two to get feedback on.
I hope that answered your question.

Dionne | 2 comments Yeah, a chapter works since I'm also working...again on it. I'm kind of a perfectionist when it comes to my writing. If I find even a little error I want to go over it again. Go figure.
