Maple (maplerie) | 307 comments I can't say specifically why I picked this book, but there was just something about the cover that called to me. It is so simple, yet so eye catching at the same time.

I had troubles picking this category, because I didn't want to be tainted by a book I had in my TBR list that I already knew what it was about. So instead of scrolling through my list I did a Google image search for "book covers", and found this one. It spoke to me and I knew I had to read it.

I am starting to read this one today, and finally peaked at what the book is about. It is a historical fiction book inspired the author's family memoirs. The book seemes to be told in a series of journal entries (though there is only one chapter for the entire 300 pages), and is the first in a series.

I can't wait to read through this one!

Maple (maplerie) | 307 comments I finished this book awhile ago, and I guess I forgot to update it here.

I enjoyed this story, and found it difficult to put down at times. The only thing I hated about this is how predictable the love triangle and ending were. I would have given it 4-5 stars, if not for the bland ending. Through the entire book I kept waiting for the "other shoe to drop" for Sarah. Overall, there was something about Sarah and her love for her family that really drew me into the story. Admittedly, I will probably read the other two books to finish of the series. I gave it 3 stars and would recommend it to people who enjoy historical romance novels.
