Navarro can be charitably described as a bit of a disciplinarian (less charitably as a control freak), and the book chronicles her journey from third wheel in Jim's life to sympathetic buddy in Eddie's.
I plan to get a dog in the next few months, so Navarro's descriptions of the trials of dog ownership was a useful reality check for me (I still plan to get a dog). And the book is a fun and breezy read, with bonus Puerto Rican recipes at the end, too.
