Benjamin (ben21) Anyone?

I guess Ill start and suggest: Wolfs Trap by W. D. Gagliani. Supposed to be a great werewolf book.

The Invisible Man by HG Wells - maybe leans too far toward science fiction for this group? It's been sitting on my bookshelf over a year now and needs to be read!

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm new here, but I would be interested in reading Hell House.

Benjamin (ben21) Wow good choice, deleted member. Were all pretty new here, I started the group only a couple months ago.

message 6: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) How about a classic that I've been meaning to get to? The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty.

message 7: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin (ben21) dang, you all are bring up the books I missed reading lol. Thats definitely a great choice too.

message 8: by Rebekah (new)

Rebekah (handmaiden11) | 56 comments Mod
yeah - either Hell House or The Exorcist would be good choices.
or anything by HP Lovecraft - I haven't read any of his yet!

message 9: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin (ben21) *kicks Rebekah* Dont wait for a group read to read Lovecraft!!!!!!

message 10: by Kathy (last edited Nov 19, 2009 10:49AM) (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) I just read my first Lovecraft book of short stories recently. Good stuff! I was sorry that I had waited so long to check him out! My son lives in Providence, RI and when we went to visit him in April, we took a Lovecraft tour and saw several houses that were inspirations for some of his stories, including The Shunned House. It was so much fun! We even saw where he was born and lived later in life. The tour ended at the cemetary. Wierd, but cool! I definitely recommend him!

(sheepishly) point taken!
I have to get through Tommyknockers first. It's taken me 3 days to get to page 45, which is ridiculous. Things have come up, but normally I would be much further along by now. Anybody else have trouble getting into it? I'm hoping it picks up later. I do want to know what that thing is she's digging up though - or do I? (shudder)

I really liked Tommyknockers....it has been awhile since I read it, but for me it was worth the wait! :)

Emma Audsley (emmaaudsley) | 5 comments Four past midnight or Hell House will be great!!!!

Aaron (annenoise) | 4 comments As long as it isn't King, at least this month - I feel like every book club I'm in went apeshit over King the past few months!

I'll recommend Blood Crazy. I want to recommend something of the "December" spirit, and Blood Crazy has a long period of hiking through snowy mountains, significant religious (specifically Christian) overtones and an excellent view on the loving family. Also, it's a fantastic book, and I've wanted to recommend it everywhere since I read it.

Either that, or I second the bid for Four Past Midnight, despite my previous anti-King sentiment, because Langoliers is awesome.

Thats probably because of King releasing a new book this month. We wont be reading it till January though.

Well if we're reading it in December, why does this post exist? Winking smiley, to denote good-natured joshing.

It goes beyond Under the Dome, though. (Which I'm reading right now, and currently love.) I've been assigned Eyes of the Dragon, Firestarter, Cell, Duma Key and something else that I forget, all in the past three months or so. Just pointing out a trend that may only affect me. Regardless of the group read choice, I'll be reading along and discussing it!

"Hell House is the scariest haunted house novel ever written. It looms over the rest the way the mountains loom over the foothills." --Stephen King

Saw that comment on the book jacket and wanted to share - can't wait to get started!

message 29: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) Great book. I guess a reread is in order!

message 30: by Rachel (new)

Rachel I'm gonna ask for Hell House for Christmas.

message 31: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin (ben21) Rachel wrote: "I'm gonna ask for Hell House for Christmas."

Thatd be an odd choice for a christmas present, considering what the holiday is compared to the name of the book lol.

message 32: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) Ya wanna hear odd choice for a gift? lol. When I was expecting my oldest son, my ex-husband bought me the movie, Rosemary's Baby for Christmas. lol. How is that for odd choices at odd times?
