Yeah, it's been quiet. Too many groups, not enough time. -grin-
I know I have been busy with real life. Been very sick for some time (better now), then a family death, the holidays and now dealing with my newest kitten in heat. There is nothing worse than a cat in heat. Oh....my....god! -grin-
She's off to the vet in about 5 hours now (7:30AM) to get turned into an 'it'.
I will try to be more active here. I feel guilty for not being here for so long.

As A matter of fact, I have. I think I have read most of her work. It's really different and good.
Her Threshold books with Chance leave you wondering and Silk is just plain good.
I recently picked up Daughter of Hounds, but haven't read it yet.

Has anyone read any of Caitlin Kiernan's stuff?" Never tried but I'll check them out. Been getting some really good author rec.s lately my to-read list is ridiculous! I just hope there's not too many great new releases this year! Going into hospital for some aparrently major surgery on Feb. 8th & it's going to be at least 3-4 months before I'll start to get better so I'll have loads of time to get through my list! Unless anyone has any must-reads for me to try?!
That's too funny Vicki Jean. We're having problems here too.
Kaeli (the new one and newly neutered) is just fine. She acts like there is no pain or anything. The main difference is that she wants me with her all the time. She will do laps around my legs and generally be happy.
Zoe, my next youngest, is one of those cats that latches on to a person and nobody else better come near. She is treating Kaeli like she never saw her before. Growling, hissing and just being rude.
Niya and Jr are pretty much okay with her. Not much change with them.
Zoe has been getting more and more possessive of me and pretty much won't tolerate anyone else around. If some other cat gets in my lap, she chases them off. She spends most of her day (and night) sleeping on my lap.
So right now it's like a little ole soap opera here.
The Young and the Jealous Cats! -grin-
Back to books. I am rereading Silk too. Started it last night. It's been too long since I first read it and it's good enough that it deserves to be read often.
Of course I'm also reading a few other books as well. -grin-
With Silk, I have 5 books started. I REALLY need to stop reading the first page of a book when I get it. Because I can never stop at just one. -grin- I end up reading a few dozen and off we go. So right now, I am reading;
Depraved by Bryan Smith. And it really is depraved as is Bryan smith I fear! -grin-
Ghost Monster by Simon Clark. Another GREAT story by Simon. He remains on top as my favorite Horror writer. This month anyway. -grin-
Tainted by Julie Kenner. I've avoided her other books as being a little too sappy for me. She writes the Demon-hunting Soccer Mom series for example. But this one looks good. We'll see.
The Jake Helman Files: Personal Demons by Gregory Lamberson
Gregory Lamberson is a recent discovery of mine. The library had this book and I looked him up online. He has a couple other books out, but I haven't been able to find them anywhere around here and I REALLY want them! I like his style a lot.
He created 'Johnny Gruesome' and I want everything there is to do with that character. Plus he's a director, having released some low budget stuff (my favorite) Like 'Slime City' and 'Undying Love' out on tape as 'New York Vampire'.
Okay, I've yakked enough here.

oh get it, its rather horific, I loved it. If you need a copy while your down let me know I'll pop it in the mail for you.
I started Silk last..." Thanks! I'll have a quick look at the book.
Too funny that we all would be reading the same book and not have agreed to beforehand.
Zoe has calmed down a bit. But I just have to get used to the idea that she is VERY possessive. She doesn't like it if any other cat gets on my lap. I've never had a cat so possessive. On the other hand, Kaeli is a live and let live type. Super friendly and loves everyone! I won't bore you with the other 3. -grin-
You know, Vicki Jean, you have always talked up the Black Jewel Trilogy and I agree that it is a fantastic read. My problem now is that after all this time, you have gotten to me and I want to read them again. Only my copies are gone! Damn! Now I have to go buy them AGAIN (3rd time). Which is okay. I just need to stop loaning books out to people that never return them. -grin-
Which makes me curious. I think I'll start a post with another question.

Yes, I remember when the 6th one came out. I meant to restock that collection back then, but...you know...stuff happens. Maybe they will have a nice box set of all 6 books. That would be cool.
I have been wanting to reread the series for as long as you have mentioned it, VJ. Thanks to you it's stuck in my mind and I am always looking for the books when at the bookstore.

Kaeli is great. She acts like nothing happened. They gave her a shot of pain med that was supposed to last 3 days and it did. Problem was it worked too well and I couldn't keep her quiet. By the end of the 3rd day she had slowed down and she stayed very quiet the 4th day. I imagine she was suddenly hurting a bit and it surprised her.
But now she is back to terrorizing the household. getting the other cats all upset and cranky and getting into places I never thought a cat could get into or do.
The nice part is that she is also spending a lot more time in my lap. Much to Zoe's dismay.
Vicki Jean. Nope, not finished yet. I've been concentrating more on Under the Dome. I'm about half done with Silk.
