Megan Is it worth me reading it? What did you like about it?

Marek for sure this is the basic of all "motivation" books including The Secret. Explains how our thinking influences our lives. There were a lot of books written according to this issue but I am sure the most of authors were inspired by this amazing book.

Sharon Delarose I wonder if Megan ever read it? After I read it, I went searching for more just like it but most of them didn't even come close. When I see it cheap at a thrift store, I'll buy copies to hand out to people :-)

Justice Mandhla The book is about how to apply the power of your mind to overcome obstacles.

Sharon Delarose Definitely worth reading. I've read it multiple times as it's far and above many of the others in its category. As Justice said, it teaches you how to take charge of the power of your mind to overcome obstacles and achieve your goals. While there've been many books like it, few grabbed me enough to want to read again and again. I've even given this book away as gifts to help others in their journey.

He uses real world examples, along with citing scientific studies, to back up what he's explaining. One of those studies was so fascinating to me that I've often shared it in conversation to demonstrate our ability to achieve a goal, whether that goal is to win a golf game or run a business.

Socrates Chinniah Don,t think anymore , just get the book and dive into it . The book has impacted my phenomenally and i am a better person nowadays with the understanding of how to approach certain aspects of life. The book is not like other motivational books , this one stands out from the crowd . The book is written by the author for the love of the subject than the authors who try to make money by trying to inspire people . The book is more scientific about how your brain works and reacts and how to map your brain and get yourself ready to become more productive , A must read for anyone who wants to become something better than what they are.

James Asante This book is about this: You are what you think and you lean toward and tend to become that what you think. If you believe you can achieve something and keep that in your mind, each day you make small and maybe even unconscious decisions that will get you there. On the flip side, "if you think you can't your probably right."

Devina Khan I've read this book a couple of times and have enjoyed it thoroughly. Gives a great insight to how you can control your mind to behave productively.

Robert Saxton I read it back in 1969. I lost my copy but I can get it in e-book format. A lot of the previous comments I agree with. Also, there is a method for learning how to de-stress yourself. I still to this day practice it and it does help. I highly recommend it and I think it was a good book for its time written.

Jim Williams It's based on the idea that you can change your personality just by visualization. I was only able to make superficial changes that did not do me a lot of good. It was intereesting though.

Ted Megan wrote: "Is it worth me reading it? What did you like about it?"

I found it worth reading for myself. The principles are fine but be forewarned about dated language about gender.

Ted James wrote: "This book is about this: You are what you think and you lean toward and tend to become that what you think. If you believe you can achieve something and keep that in your mind, each day you make sm..."

You are what you think ... over time. You have to think and act consistently to become something you envision. It starts with thought but also requires consistent attitude and action.

Sharon Delarose It's also about achieving goals, how to position yourself mentally to achieve a goal. Most people shoot themselves in the foot, taking themselves farther away from what they are trying to accomplish. It's easier to travel the wrong path than the right one.

Clovis Bordeaux A scientific book as you can tell by the title. Mind-over-matter psychology has come a long way since the 1960's when I read this book. But at that time it was the Bible. "The Word as a Physiological and Theraputic Factor" By I. Platanov, though not widely read in the U.S., goes much further into the power thoughts have to change our world, and us.

Richard Echevarria The ultimate Self-Help book

Doubledf99.99 Read it back in the 60's and have carried a copy with me ever since, like someone mentioned above, great de-stresser with plenty of exercises to learn how to do it.

Gmaharriet I also read it back in the 1960's. I was at a real low point in my life, emotionally and financially. It gave me the tools to turn my life around, and it was the single most positive influence in my life.

I've read it several times. I also tried the newer, updated version, done by Dr. Maltz's heirs, I believe. It was not nearly so helpful, so I recommend the original.

Robert Saxton I can't believe how many of you read this book around the same time frame as I did. My father recommended it to me. I believe I still have it. To tell you the truth, I probably remember 5% of it, but that it was a good book for me to read at the beginning of my college career. The one thing I do remember vividly, is a technique that Dr. Maltz explained as a method of relaxing. When I am mentally, or emotionally stressed or upset, I still utilize this exercise for bringing your body into a state of relaxation and it always works!
