Laurel I don't know how it happened, but I've started to gather signed copies of my favorite novels. My boyfriend collects sports jerseys, but this is my hobby! I've been fortunate to find a signed copy of Tigana, The Warrior's Apprentice, Avempartha, The Crown Conspiracy, Nyphron Rising, The Gargoyle, The Retreat, The Boundless Deep, The Gathering Storm, and An Echo in the Bone.

Happily, Neil Gaiman will be signing books in my home city on Tuesday, and Guy Gavriel Kay later next year!

Does anyone else have a growing collection?

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 916 comments I also have the Michael J. Sullivan books signed. In addition to those, I have Griffin's Daughter by Leslie Ann Moore and Tuf Voyaging signed by George R.R. Martin.

Jon (jonmoss) | 529 comments I have all but one of Brandon Sanderson's non-YA novels in hardcover and signed by him. I also have The Gathering Storm signed by Brandon.

Micheal was kind enough to sign the three Riyria Revelations novels. I have a couple of other obscure books signed by the authors.

I concur with Chris. Reading is my favorite hobby. It's about time I made it uniquely my own in my permanent collection.

Laurel Jon,

Did you get a chance to hear him do a reading?

message 5: by Jon (new)

Jon (jonmoss) | 529 comments No, he never made it even close to Kansas City (if you discount Nebraska earlier this year for Warbreaker).

Pamela (pamela128) Yesterday a friend (Shaun Hutchinson author of The Deathday Letter) had an extra ticket to see Amanda Palmer. She happens to be dating Neil Gaiman who was in attendance. Both kind enough to sign Who Killed Amanda Palmer? A Collection of Photographic Evidence. Gaiman also did a reading from it (He contributed the short stories, poems etc., that accompanied several of the pictures.) and signed Stardust for me!

I have to add Amanda Palmer was AMAZING!!! Her music was new to me, so I didn't have any expectations. She blew me away entirely. True performer. Best show I have ever seen.

Ridan So glad to see so many people liking the "signed book" policy from Ridan. I think it gives them that special personal touch. We offer signed copies from all our authors at a discount at this page.

Amelia (narknon) I just went to a book signing for Brandon Sanderson and got some of his books signed. It was great. I'm looking forward to the discussion on Warbreaker coming up next month.

Jeanne (jeannekc) I have signed copies of Michael J. Sullivan's books signed. I also have Knife of Dreams signed by Robert Jordan and Warbreaker and The Gathering Storm both signed by Brandon Sanderson, The real treat is Harriet McDougal Rigney was at the signing I went to for The Gathering Storm so she also signed that one for me (Harriet is Robert Jordan's widow and editor of the Wheel of Time series). The entire Kushiel Series signed by Jacqueline Carey, A Feast for Crows signed by George R.R. Martin and Anansi Boys signed by Neil Gaiman. Also, Griffin's Daughter signed by Lesley Ann Moore.

For obscure signed books I have two books signed by Shirley Temple, One is a collection of the stories from her movies and the other is a collection of her favorite fairy stories. My mother has a mint condition Shirley Temple doll from the 1940's to round out the collection.

If anyone is looking to add any signed books to their collection, both Powell's Books and Mysterious Galaxy books sell them via their websites.
