Next year I'm hoping for 200 books, but I won't be too disappointed if it doesn't happen since just reading them is all that matters. <3

My goal for 2010 is to read 200 books, because I'm doing it for another group I am in. The books I will be reading will mostly be for the various book challenges that I plan on participating in, plus all of the books I pick up on the way that I will try to make part of as many of the challenges as I can.

I'm Rae. I'm a writer and avid reader/book lover. I want to kick up my reading next year for 2010 so I definitely want to get 150+. I don't think I'll make it this year and I still have a few 2009 reads that I want to read before we get well into the new year. I pretty much read across all genres as long as it's a good story and if it's right up my alley. :-)

As of now, I'm just going to aim for 150 and hope I get to it.

I have never done a read X number of books a year challenge before so this sounds fun, something new.
I will probably add to my list as I go too as I tend to get sucked into different genres depending on my mood. I do tend to stick to YA Fantasy type books.
Off to start my list :).
OHHH and I got a Kindle for Xmas and see that I get a lot of classic books for free on Amazon so I may have to start a classic kick too :).

I've never counted how many books I read in a year. I should probably be doing something else like washing the floors or cleaning something, but I'm a huge procrastinator who loves to read. Oh well. :P
I read lots of m/m and fantasy, urban and epic, some paranormal romance, and LOADS of children's books, but I don't think it fair to list those. I'd probably reach my goal of 150 in two weeks if I did. lol
Maybe I should set up another list for my kiddies, to see how many books they get read to them in a year. Maybe not. I'm a bit lazy. (Which is a huge understatement!)

Jenn!!! Welcome!

my name is tearsa and i'm new to this group, well and website.
i've never counted how many books in a year as well. i know for me this number may be a little high, but i'd really like to push myself to get there. i do want to create a list, but more of a "i hope to get there" kind of list and less of a definite restrictive compilation.
i read from a lot of different genres. i'm not too interested in romance novels or mysteries, however. i hope to broaden my interests and read a lot of classics i haven't reached yet.

welcome Tearsa!
Hi, Tearsa! I hope you enjoy Goodreads!

It's not even June yet, so I think I can make a 150 books this year goal. I've never actually done a read a certain number of books goal before (closest is a library rewards system where for every 10 books I read they gave me some free gift at the library one summer and I read like 80 books or so) so I am really excited!
I'll start by listing those I am positive I finished reading in the last few months so I don't have to start from zero right now.
I really love this idea as well, makes for a nice back flash list on what I have read over the year! (plus, maybe I can get a few suggestions from the rest of you!)
Also, I should mention I'm reading all over the place genre-wise. M/M novelettes included.

A bit late in joining but have been going through some of the book groups and spotted this one!
I am Lynne from Gillingham, Dorset and I read a lot. The most books I have read have been all read this year. I have been averaging 110 a year but this year I have just blown it out the water at 175 so far!
Will add my list!

I'm a bit shocked at myself for joining this group, but I've signed up for so many group challenges for 2011, that I'm curious if I'll make 150 reads just on those. I can't even guess! (Besides, when I get on a good writing streak, I forget to read, so this will be yet another fun reminder that reading is part of a writer's job!)
If I had to guess, I'd say I read about 75% M/M, 20% horror, 5% everything else from YA to GLBT nonfiction.
Ciao,
Pia
*waves to all the M/M Romance peeps I see here*

Wish me luck!

A further goal I have is to read books with more pages and/or more stylistic difficulty since last year I only read a little under 29,000 words. If I spend more time on research and longer works, I may be able to reach my other goal of finishing the stories/novels I have been working on for a while!
Also, I want to spend more time on my marksmanship hobby and my husband really wants me to work on getting my concealed carry license as well as learning some further gunsmithing techniques. He would like me to live a little more OUTSIDE of my head this year, and I have to admit that "all the characters' voices" have been getting a bit much lately.
Plus, with both my jobs and my husband and son, I should really try to get out (physically) and enjoy the (real) world's entertainment when possible. We'll see if I can stick to that notion! This should be a great, well-rounded year regardless! Happy New Year to everyone, and good luck on your reading goals and resolutions!

I am an eclectic reader. My favorite books are Sci-fi and Fantasy. I have been reading a lot of YA lately though. I also like to read romances that are M/F if they are tastefully done.

I'm Ralph and my goal is the standard 150. I've set up my 2010 thread to include a to-read list for this year to try and focus my reading a little bit. One of my goal for 2010 is to read the top 100 books on the Best YA LGBT Fiction listopia list. I also participate in numerous challenges in Queereaders and M/M Romance groups.
