1) Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto

Get ready to get emotional. Can't wait to read more of her stuff!

2) Bridegroom: Stories by Ha Jin

Loved the short stories.

3) Hardboiled and Hard Luck by Banana Yoshimoto

Liked Kitchen better, but these two stories were full of emotion, too.

4) The Space Between Us: A Novel by Thrity Umrigar

If you haven't read this for a book club, yet, this is a great one! There is A LOT to talk about! You can dissect each female character and discuss the pain, suffering, weaknesses, and strengths; the significance of the title; the relationships between the men and women; relationships between master and servant; and so much more! A great read.

5) Asleep by Banana Yoshimoto

Somnolence drowns sorrow and loneliness in the three stories, but there's light at the end of the tunnel.
