Carol Neman | 469 comments A Nancy Drew fan! I will get to her books eventually, so glad there are so many of them. (I counted 39 in the titles here, and I know there are more of them you haven't mentioned...)

My mother read Nancy drew to me as a bed time story when I was a little girl. When she told me she wants to get rid of her Nancy Drew books to make room on her shelves, I decided I wanted to read them before they disappeared. There are 56 in the original series. I don't know how many were written after that. They're fun to read but it's very different reading them as an adult.

Carol Neman | 469 comments Kerry, if your mother still wants to get rid of them, I'll take them (and pay the postage to California)...she says with eyes wide open and nodding her head up and down expectantly...

Pat aka Tygyr (tygyr) Kerry, when I went away to college my mom gave all of my Nancy Drew Books away. I was furious. I brought it up to my husband like 30 some years later and for my surprise 50th birthday party he ordered the whole set for me. I agree it is harder to read them as an adult, but I am about 1/2 way through them. He recently threw me a surprise 60th birthday party, so it is taking me quite a while to get through them

Carol Neman | 469 comments I got hold of a used Nancy Drew at the local library, I think it was #32. It was very light reading and quick to get through, I think all told the reading time was only a few hours. I rather enjoyed it, though, even if it was written in a kind of bare-bones style...I still got a sense of who Nancy Drew was. I didn't read any ND books as an adolescent, so I had to see what all the talk was about. I wasn't that thrilled, but not that disappointed either. I'd go for the whole series, if I could read them in order.

(My 14-year oldgrand-daughter has them all, so I will borrow hers, I think...)
