Lydia (wordnerd80) | 4 comments I want to thank everyone who has been posting their own 2010 Challenges and responded to my own questions about the best way to create a challenge. For the first time ever, I am creating my own reading challenge. I've decided on young adult novels because those are what my students read, and when they need suggestions for interesting reads, I would like to be able to help. I've looked at a variety of lists for teen literature and even asked my students for their input. I came up with 40 titles to give me some wiggle room since it is my first challenge. If I finish with these, I have more books ready to go:).

Sherry Good luck Lydia! The covers of the City of Bones series call out to me every time I see them in Chapters. I'd be very interested in your thoughts on them. I adored The Little Prince. Such a sweet and profound little book.

Shea | 346 comments Great challenge Lydia! I look forward to hearing about your progress. I read "A Great and Terrible Beauty" and didn't realize until afterwards that it was considered young adult lit. I enjoyed it. After my sons and I finish the Eragon series we are going to start the Inkheart series. So maybe we will read them at the same time.

D. (dselliott) Awesome!

What do you teach?

I teach high school -- 11th grade Language Arts, 9th grade Reading Intervention, and 2 Journalism classes. That's a good list!

Elizabeth (elizabeth_hults) | 15 comments wonderful list. I just might have to copy some of these to read myself

Shea | 346 comments I just finished Ella Enchanted but was disappointed at the end when it was revealed as a retelling of Cinderella. I thought it should have been it's own original story, and it would have taken so little for that to be the case. Overall, it was a fun read and would be great for kids in grades 3-5 depending on reading level.
