RandomAnthony | 14536 comments The NY Times has an article this morning called "31 Places to Go in 2010", but you don't have to listen to that bossy NY Times. Go wherever you want!

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/10/tra...

That said, where do you want to go this year? Let us pass the cold, dead January days with dreams of future adventures...

I want to:

1. Hit the Pacific Northwest, which I haven't visited in close to sixteen years,
2. Visit my brother in Colorado,
3. Take my middle son to the baseball hall of fame.

And...you?

message 2: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments 1. Seattle & Portland, since I haven't been since 2003
2. A canal barge trip through the south of France.
3. Vancouver, since I still haven't been and my sisters love it
4. New Zealand - this is a wish list, right?
5. Cape Town, since I still haven't been

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i still have reasonably reasonable plans to go to spain for the run with the bulls this summer. i am saving money by giving plasma at biolife. $50/wk for about 3 hours total of laying there reading and texting while they pump the life juice outta me. btw - this event in pamplona is on my bucket list

message 4: by Lori (new)

Lori Misha! I missed you! Next time, definitely give me a call.

The place I really want to go hasn't changed since the last time this topic was up. Well it hasn't changed in more than 15 years!

GREECE - specifically Greek island. *sigh* With a day to 2 in Athens to see the ruins. And another side trip to Majorca.

I've also always wanted to go to Africa, Turkey, and Israel.

Jaimie (jaimie476) | 664 comments I want to go to Egypt but I doubt that will happen this year. However, my friend and I are seriously contemplating going to Orlando, Fl once the Harry Potter amusement park opens.

I've got nothin' in this department. My plans for this year are to produce a baby, raise that baby, and student teach.
As always I dream about taking a road trip down to the gulf coast and swimming in the ocean, but it's hard to convince Sweeter to go, and it'll be even harder with a little person in tow.

message 8: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Graceland ... Graceland ... Memphis, Tennessee.

message 9: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) In Graceland Graceland,
I'm going to Graceland,
For reasons I cannot explain
There's some part of me wants to see
Graceland,
And I may be obliged to defend
Every love every ending
Or maybe there's no obligations now,
Maybe I've a reason to believe
We all will be received
In Graceland

message 10: by Lori (new)

Lori Ah. Time to dig out that CD. What a classic.

Well if we're talking about where we might actually go, um maybe the Oregon Coast.

Ooh...I may go to Lake Superior too, but the Wisconsin side...

And I can never get enough of the black hills/Badlands.

message 14: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments Havana. now i would like to do that sometime. i spent about 10 days with a cuban doctor in la moskitia while working on a project with the Los Tawahka people a few years back and he really peaked my interest in visiting Cuba someday

message 15: by Her (new)

Her Majesty (hermajesty) | 122 comments been told it's not as cheap as you might think, I just hope I could make it before the end of this year.

message 16: by Youndyc (new)

Youndyc | 1255 comments I'd really like to make it to Spain this year- I'm looking at a trip in June - it's a wine and culture tour being organized through my university.

Other likely trips: home to visit my mom and family, DC for a conference, the beach a couple of times (it's close so that hardly counts as a trip).

Trips on the wish list: Greece, Pacific Northwest, Bar Harbor, Halifax, Scotland, Montreal

Now I have a strong desire to spend the morning researching trips!

Phoenix this spring

Frisco CO this summer

Misha, if you are talking about Madison WI, let me know, maybe we can have a mini conclave with RA.

message 18: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments that sounded dirty jim

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, I guess rereading it, it doesn't sound as innocent as I meant it. More like getting together for a beer or two.

message 20: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i know, just giving you a rough time on a cold monday jim. how have you been? hard to think about baseball yet eh?

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Places I would love to travel:

- Pacific Northwest, for now. That's the only region I'm setting my sights on.

Places I WILL be traveling to:

- New York (twice)
- Orlando (family vacation)
- Miami (me and the wifey vaction)

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

At least you still have the Colts to care about. I just read an article that says the Cubs don't plan on Marlon Byrd being their CF past this year. They have a kid in the minors that they are counting on for next year.

Actually it seems that I've acclimated to the cold this year really well, and intentionally spent a couple of hours outside both days, but baseball never entered my thoughts while I was outside.

Jim, do you go to Frisco every summer?

Catalina | 268 comments Realistically, I would like to go to New york City and Orlando, when I can couch surf and get a change of scenery for a few days.

You all know the ficus treatment is your reward for sporting up a nicely non sports thread.

message 30: by Youndyc (new)

Youndyc | 1255 comments You go, Sally

message 31: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Consider yourselves warned.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

We try to go every summer Sally, but sometimes life intervenes. We really like that area.

It is west of the Eisenhower tunnel Larry, and East of Vail, it is on the west side of Lake Dillon.

Actually with the recliners, beer coolers and Big screen TV behind the ficus, it is more of a reward. :-)

He says, virtually giving Heidi a slight head pat and hair tousle before turning back to the game on the big screen behind the ficus.

My message was supposed to go right after 44, not 45. Now it looks like Larry is doing the tousling.

message 43: by Catalina (new)

Catalina | 268 comments I want to go conoeing!

Sally wrote: "He says, virtually giving Heidi a slight head pat and hair tousle before turning back to the game on the big screen behind the ficus."

I have to admit this made me chuckle, but seriously if we come down that way I'd consider it. We may go to the Pere Marquette in MI instead.

message 45: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I don't care a rat's butt about the game on the big screen.

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

Actually the games over Larry, were watching movies now.

message 47: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments There's a big screen behind the ficus? Fuck? Why didn't anyone tell me? Does it have cable?

Cable & satellite, with DVR's and the sports package along with HBO & Cinemax.

But Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh - don't tell anyone.
