I was walking around the supermarket this morning, when unexpectedly I bumped into a guy whom I hadn't seen for at least 20 years or more. He smiled at first as I said "hello", trying to place where I knew him from. Suddenly he seemed to recognise me and for some reason he seemed fearful, which was a little embarrasing.
"Bloody Hell, dad." One of my sons commented. "That guy looked terrified of something."
I turned and watched him rush out of the store, leaving his trolley behind. I pondered for a moment or two, trying to work out why he did what he did, then the penny dropped.
The last time I saw him was in the mid 80's, moments after he called an oppo of mine, cannon fodder and told him that he should have got slotted during the falklands conflict. I think I expressed dissapointment with his comments, but the cobwebs are a little heavy around that area or time now.
"What was wrong with that fella, dad" My other son asked me. "He looked like he'd just seen a ghost."
"I think he did, son." I replied. "I think he did"!!!!
