Ellen Maze (ellenmaze) | 7 comments Great idea Vincent!

Rabbit Chasing Beth Rider is a vampire tale like no other. I'm really changing up the vampire mythos and sticking in elements of Faith and God -- making waves all over the globe!

Novelist Beth Rider writes vampire fiction to great fame, but is soon chased by 'real' vampires who hate the redemptive message woven into her novels...

Have a lookie!

Brendan Carroll (brendancarroll) | 26 comments Hey Everyone. The Knight of Death is the first of seventeen novels in the Assassin Chronicles series by Brendan Carroll.
The series follows the adventures and misadventures of a semi-immortal Assassin/Alchemist who wants nothing more than to do his job and be left alone to make gold in his dusty laboratory in Scotland. But his duties as Assassin for the Order of the Red Cross of Gold brings him to the brink of destruction when a simple mission goes awry. His temporary memory loss sets a chain reaction in motion that has consequences reaching far into the past as well as the future.

Tom (TamB) | 7 comments I'm going to plug my book a bit more:

Name: The light that never went out.
The setting: A Dyson Sphere - don't know what that is look it up in wikipedia.
The main characters:
1) Janol - a trainee mage.
2) Onnil his mentor who is not what she appears.

Despite the mention of a mage up there, this is sci-fi NOT fantasy, but does read like fantasy in parts, to find out how magic works in sci-fi you'll just have to read it.

I think this exchange sums up the relationship between the two main characters quite well.

It was five minutes before Onnil spoke again. She suddenly stopped. “You’re a farmer’s son right?”
“Well yes, you know that…”
“Oh shit, oh shit. Bugger!”
“What?”
“You’re coming off on a sodding quest with me.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I’ve a good mind to take you home now for all… Listen if we see a magic sword, we don’t touch it.”
Janol just stared at Onnil, what was she talking about? Magic swords!
“Oh no,” she was almost crying. “I’ve become a cliché.”

Brendan Carroll (brendancarroll) | 26 comments The Red Cross of Gold XIV:. the Skull of Sidon now available in paperback. Createspace It will soon have an amazon.com page as well.
Kindle Version is available at: The Red Cross of Gold XIV . The Skull of Sidon by Brendan Carroll
The Grand Master of the Red Cross of Gold fails miserably in his attempt to 'set things right' by indulging in a bit of time travel. He is saved from a terrible fate by his beloved Meredith, but her magick awakens an even greater power in the Abyss that would have been better left sleeping. The Chevalier du Morte returns home defeated, but his troubles increase disproportionately when he returns with 'baggage'. Things begin to fall apart between Mark and Meredith just when things should have been looking up and the Knight of the Golden Eagle finds himself again thrown into the mix when Meredith pushes both Simon of Grenoble and Mark Ramsay out of her life perhaps forever.

Sue Bowling (sueannbowling) | 19 comments I seem to have missed this thread. My science fiction book, Homecoming, has been out in hardcover, trade paperback and e-book since March. It is the first of a series, and the sequel should be out this coming winter. The others are a trilogy set a couple of centuries later.

Homecoming by Sue Ann Bowling

For more information, see my website at http://www.sueannbowling.com
One question: I've noticed the group has bookshelves. Can one add one's own book(s) and if so, how and to which shelf?

Of possible interest to SF writers: starting next week, the weekend entries on my blog will discuss how the progress of stars though their lifetimes affects the livability of their planets. It's at http://homecomingbook.wordpress.com/

Brendan Carroll (brendancarroll) | 26 comments The Red Cross of Gold III:. The Head of the Crow and IV:. The Hesperian Dragon are still only a $1.99 at Amazon.com. Can’t say how long this discount will last. Both have new 5 star reviews.
III:. The Head of the Crow: The Ancient Order of the Red Cross of Gold is set upon by unexplained forces as the alchemist and assassin, Chevalier Mark Ramsay, learns a powerful lesson about physical alchemy when he unexpectedly 'gives birth' to the mythical Philosopher's Stone. The arrival of the Stone sets off a chain of events prophesied in a number of obscure alchemical texts in which he and his Brothers play pivotal roles. The Stone, coveted by many, understood by few, is stolen and held for ransom by a renegade ex-Templar. His bumbling disregard for the Templar Code catches the attention of an even more terrifying old enemy.
IV:. The Hesperian Dragon: The Chevalier Mark Ramsay, Assassin and Alchemist for the Red Cross of Gold goes after the lost Key to the fabled Ark of the Covenant and in the process, discovers that the Order has attracted the attention of the Ancient Order of Assassins, a far eastern cult and long time enemy of the Knights Templar. He is only days away from marrying his one true love when he is torn away from her by his obligations to the Order and his beloved Brother, Lucio Dambretti. He finds himself in Divine company, fighting for his life against a terrifying dragon.

Stephen Goldin (stephengoldin) | 9 comments I'm not exactly a new writer--I've been publishing professionally for 45 years--but this is my first post here, so I'd like to acquaint people with what I've been up to lately.

I think my best stand-alone sf novel is The Eternity Brigade Final Edition by Stephen Goldin . It was originally published by Fawcett Books in 1980, but I've thoroughly revised and updated it this year. It's about a group of soldiers who are reincarnated for war after war forever into the future, and their attempts to break the shackles of their captivity. Especially for fans of military sf.

For space opera fans, check out my recently published "Agents of ISIS" decalogy that begins with Tsar Wars (Agents of ISIS,#1) by Stephen Goldin , about secret agents protecting the security of an interstellar empire. Lots of action and fun in there.

More later. Happy reading!

Sue Bowling (sueannbowling) | 19 comments Is there any way an author can post PDFs of reviews on the book's page here at Goodreads? I've recently gotten 5-star reviews from Reader Views and ForeWord Clarion (both well above average for these reviewers) for Homecoming, and I'd like to post them. Meanwhile the Reader Views review is at http://www.readerviews.com/ReviewBowl... (possible spoilers, but nothing that isn't in the Amazon "read first chapter") and the ForeWard review should be up in a few days and can be accessed at my website http://www.sueannbowling.com

Stephen Goldin (stephengoldin) | 9 comments For people who want a sample before they invest in a whole new fantasy series, I'm providing an electronic excerpt from my 4-volume Arabian Nights-style Parsina Saga free of charge. The Djinn Garden is a self-contained novelette. It's available in multiple electronic formats, including PDF for those who don't own an ereader device. The books themselves are available both as paperbacks and as ebooks. I hope you'll try it and, even more, I hope you'll enjoy it. All feedback is welcome.

Christopher Bunn | 7 comments Hi everyone. If you're interested in good old-fashioned fantasy, you might want to try out The Hawk And His Boy. This book is the first in my Tormay Trilogy. I'll be putting the 2nd and 3rd books up at Amazon in the next few months. They're written, but still need covers and all that.

The Hawk And His Boy is about a young thief named Jute who gets double-crossed by his guild after a job, and ends up on the run. Ghosts, guilt-ridden assassins, reluctant wizards, and a hawk who just might be able to teach the boy how to fly: the story has it all.

Rashaad Bell (rashaadbell) | 3 comments Just published my latest novel, Vampire Manifesto, working on a companion novella that should be out sometime this week.

Vampire Manifesto by Rashaad Bell

The hardest thing most kids my age have to deal with is graduating high school. I wish my life was that tranquil. There is a price on my head for three point five million dollars and my every move is being shadowed by a collection of individuals calling themselves the Marauders.

The only thing standing between them and me is a Vampire who takes offense to Immortals making power moves in his city without asking his permission first. Apparently I am destined to open one of the Boxes of Pandora and supernatural forces are converging on my position to either use me, because they want the contents for themselves, or kill me, so the Box stays sealed forever.

Vampires. Mutants. Werewolves.

This is my life now.

My name is Madison Amber Rose and this is the story of how I died.

message 50: by Anne (new)

Anne Lyle | 1 comments My alternate history Elizabethan fantasy The Alchemist of Souls comes out from Angry Robot in late March (ebook and US paperback)/early April (UK paperback):

When Tudor explorers returned from the New World, they brought back a name out of half-forgotten Viking legend: skraylings. Red-sailed ships followed in the explorers’ wake, bringing Native American goods—and a skrayling ambassador—to London. But what do these seemingly magical beings really want in Elizabeth I’s capital? Mal Catlyn, a down-at-heel swordsman, is seconded to the ambassador’s bodyguard, but assassination attempts are the least of his problems. What he learns about the skraylings and their unholy powers could cost England her new ally—and Mal his soul.

I shall be signing early copies in Manchester (UK) on 31st April, and at Eastercon over the Easter weekend.
