Danielle (leaningsun) | 8 comments I recently came across second hand copies of Excellent Women and Jane and Prudence. I haven't read any Pym but have heard great things about her work.

Kat Warren | 9 comments I just am finishing Nina Bawden's "Family Money" and am annoyed as hell that the book soon will end for me. Really, this one is finest kind and everyone must go out right now and read it.

Check out any of the titles by Nina Bawden, Antonia White, Kate O'Brien, Elizabeth Taylor (not THAT one), Beryl Markham (West with the Night), Sarah Waters, Helene Hanff (84 Charing Cross Road), Dodie Smith (I Capture the Castle).

Luann Ritsema (luannr) I second the Bawden suggestion, as well as the Antonia White. I remember one of the first Virago's I picked up in the early 80's was Henry Handel Richardson's "The Getting of Wisdom" and that book set me on the course for picking up as many Virago's as I could afford at the time.
