Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments Does Kev Merripen fascinate you the way he does Win in Seduce Me at Sunrise? Let's talk about Merripen.

I love how he fell in love with Win before he ever saw her face.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments I really liked Kev. He was a bit frustrating in how in pushed Win away. The man sure did put out mixed signals. But at the same time, his intensity, it really worked for me.

Beanbag Love | 103 comments I liked him best in Mine 'Till Midnight and Tempt Me at Twilight. Sadly, I thought his book was the weakest of the series so far. He was too volatile and it was all about sex with Win. Although the scene in the trailer with Cam was great. I think it might be my favorite scene in the whole book.

But I really saw his chemistry with Win in MTM and then in TMaT he was really funny and sweet.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments He let me down after they got caught. I was pretty annoyed with this decision making after that point. But he came around eventually.

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

At first I didn't like him at all(he just kinda seemd like a big, dumb guy), but came to love how sweet he was to Win.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments I liked his intensity and his devotion to Win. He did some stupid things, but he came around in the end.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Yep he sure did!

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Ohhh I need to read this book soon

message 9: by Yaseena (new)

Yaseena It's interesting to see all the mixed reviews about Kev. I for one loved him and "Seduce Me At Sunrise" made me a full-fledged Kleypas fan. I loved his broody nature, his passion and extreme behaviour. Even though his flip-floppity nature got on my nerves at points I still knew why he was the way he was and coudl accept that. I guess I go for the tortured soles lol *blush*

Kathy Anne (kathyanne) I am anxious to get to meet Kev I am going to have to start with book two because I can`t breate the cedar, will I lose too much if I do?

Yeah, I was too. I couldn't believe he would let Win be ruined like that. It took awhile for him to realise his mistake but I guess it portrays the extent of his stubbornness. Can't remember how things went exactly after that but I wished Leo had knocked some sense into him. Oh well, in the end, we can't resist loving Kev anyway~

message 12: by Linds (new)

Linds I love when Leo doesn't think that they make a good match "because his idea of fun is chopping wood." Anyone's who's ever dated a writer or an artist with their head in the clouds would appreciate a man that sees to the practical side of life. :)

message 13: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Certifiable St. Vinnie's Ninny (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments I agree. Practical is good!

message 14: by E. (new)

E. (dilawrosas) | 507 comments I like Kev when he made appearances in the other Hathaway books. I especially liked him in TMAT and MBM. I haven't read the last Hathaway book yet but I'll eventually read it.

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) OMG!! I totally love Kev. I'm not even halfway through Seduce Me at Sunrise and he already has me choked up.

Kev never remembered walking back to his room, only that he eventually found himself standing beside his bed. Groaning a curse, he sank to his knees and gripped huge handfuls of the counterpane and buried his face in it. He was in hell. Holy Christ, how Win devastated him.

*sniffles* I just wanna give him a big hug!

message 16: by Linds (new)

Linds I adore everything about his character. He drives some readers crazy but I love him.

At the end of Love in the Afternoon they hinted that he needs a lot of work on his Irish estates. I hope they use Merripen and Win to spin off the next series!

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) I'm done with Seduce me at Sunrise and, oh man, it was amazing. Love Kev! Brooding, troubled, tortured hero's are my favorites. LK did a wonderful job with Kev!

message 18: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Certifiable St. Vinnie's Ninny (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments I'm glad you liked it, Jessa!

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) It was great, Danielle! I'm reading Tempt Me At Twilight now and I have to say I'm not liking Harry so far. He is a little to arrogant and high-handed. Hopefully he redeems himself as the story progresses.

message 20: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Certifiable St. Vinnie's Ninny (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments At first, Harry rubbed me the wrong way. I think he will grow on you, Jessa.

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) Okay, good. I see the potential but right now he's just being an arrogant jerk. I have faith in LK! ;)

message 22: by Linds (new)

Linds Harry is one of those that is better on a re-read.

message 23: by Pamela(AllHoney) (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) I loved Harry. I admit I was a little iffy on his methods of getting Poppy but I still loved him.

message 24: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 62 comments Kev, was a great character. At first I was intrigued by him. Then once I started his book, I kind of wondered why I liked him but eventually he won me back over.

I liked Harry from the start. He does rub people the wrong way but thats why I like him.

message 25: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Certifiable St. Vinnie's Ninny (last edited Dec 29, 2010 07:28PM) (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments Harry's abrasiveness made sense to me when I learned more about his family life and childhood. I'm fine with a less than likeable character so long as the author allows me to get to know her/him.

message 26: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 62 comments I couldn't agree more, Danielle. The author has to expose why the character is cold and unlikeable.

message 27: by Sydnee (new)

Sydnee (defygravity18) | 41 comments Someone had mentioned him before, and he was perfect. David Fumero, who is a generally unknown soap actor, looks EXACTLY how I pictured Kev. And he can act. In fact, he was brooding and intense much of the time!

Heidi | 871 comments Me, me, me! I was the one who offered up David Fumero, aka Christian from OLTL!

message 29: by Sydnee (new)

Sydnee (defygravity18) | 41 comments :-) well found! And spot on!!!

message 30: by Joeera (last edited Apr 07, 2014 04:59AM) (new)

Joeera | 254 comments I agree that David Fumero Would make a great Kev. I used to Watch OLTL a lot just so i could watch his secens he's so gookd looking

message 31: by BloodRed (new)

BloodRed | 4 comments The Kev-Win pairing evoked a strong Snape-Lily feel for me... Their close childhood bond... How to everyone, he is Snape / Merripen whreas to Lily / Win, he is Sev / Kev... I imagined Merripen as Ralph Finnes who played Heathcliff in 1992 Wuthering heights

Heathcliffsbridelovesbooks | 2 comments This is the first Kleypas book I read, I'm now reading MTM which I should have read first

message 33: by Vintage (new)

Vintage (vintagesedona) I love, love, love Kev. I usually hate brooders, but he overcomes that negative is no many ways.

KatieV | 42 comments Sapphire Valentino wrote: "This is the first Kleypas book I read, I'm now reading MTM which I should have read first "

Oh man! I'm kinda jealous. Nothing like reading a great book for the first time. Enjoy!!

Heathcliffsbridelovesbooks | 2 comments My comment was much longer than this! ^ Not sure what happened! Thank you :) I am loving Cam Rohan too- how will my life ever be the same knowing I'll never meet Merripin and Rohan

message 36: by Miss Courtney (new)

Miss Courtney | 1 comments I love, love, love Kev Merripen. I agree that there were moments when I wanted to throttle him, but isn't that true of all Kleypas' heroes?

There's just something so attractive to me about a man with that kind of passion and intensity. He never took Winn lightly, or for granted, and I liked that. I tend to get turned off by heroes that casually insult the women they are attracted to/love. Alphas often do this in novels, and I hate it.

message 37: by Vintage (new)

Vintage (vintagesedona) Her heroes are very hard to resist.

message 38: by Jujubee (new)

Jujubee (goodreadscomjujubeed) | 27 comments I agree ladies, those two men, Kev and Cam, are pretty swoonworthy. All the heroes in the Hathaways are winners, and so uniquely different from each other. As I recall, Leo totally grows into his hero-i-ness. Yes. That's a word ;)
And now LK's given us Ryhs Winterborne! I put him right up there with Kev and Cam....swarthy deliciousness!!

message 39: by Ursula (new)

Ursula (ursi) I loved all the heroes in the Hathaways - what a wonderful group! And yes, all unique. Cam and Leo were probably my favourites but I loved Merripen too- the way Cam gently teased him (his translation of what Merripen said in Romany was hilarious, and the wood-chopping line of Leo's was brilliant). I have re-read those 3 books more than once!

message 40: by Vintage (new)

Vintage (vintagesedona) I don't remember the wood-chopping line, but I loved cam's translations.

The Hathaways are by far my favorite.
