Matt was leaning against his locker, watching students pass by.

Matt felt someone watching him and turned his head to see who it was. A pretty girl was staring at him. "Hey," he said, coming over to her.

Just then, the first bell rang. "Who do you have for homeroom?" Matt asked.

"Same! With Mr. Smith?"

"That is weird...we should go to class now, you probably don't want to be late."

"I'm Matt. Gabby, right?"

"Nice to meet you too," Matt said and started towards History.

Matt fell in step with her.

They got to class and Matt sort of followed Gabby and sat in the desk behind the one she sat at.

"Hey, man," Matt's friend said, sitting next to him just then.
Matt gave Gabby an apologetic look, then made conversation with his friend until the bell rang.

After class, Matt murmured, "I'm sorry," to Gabby as he passed her in the hall.

"Calc. What about you?"

"Wow. With who?"

"Mrs. Thompson too!!!"

"I know!!! Tell me the rest of your schedule!"

Matt glanced over it. "Wow, we have all our classes together!"

"That is sweet," Matt agreed. "What are the chances?"

"Definitely," Matt said, starting to lead the way to their next class.

There was a few minutes left before class started when they got there, so when Matt chose a desk, he asked Gabriella, "Hey, where do you hang out?"

"...Mattie? Alright, I'll just pretend you didn't say that.... I'm usually at the skate park or downtown."

Matt gave her a sort of weird look. "Um..OK."

Matt shook his head. "You're a bit odd, you know that?"

Matt shook his head and was about to reply when the teacher started talking.

Matt gave her a sort of weird look. Gabby...you know we're not dating..right?

Yeah, you kinda are. It's cool though. I like it :)

Matt stood up. "Gaahh I hate school," he murmured under his breath as he left with Gabby.

"I'm skipping the rest of this week, just so you know."

"Don't feel like coming."

"Do you?"

"Skip with me sometime."

"Alright. Which day?"

"OK. Meet me at the Starbucks off Main Street."

"What time do you want? I'm skipping all day, but I don't know about you...."

"OK. I might come a bit late then."

"I don't have your phone number though."

"Thanks," Matt said, pocketing the paper, then opened the door to their next class.

"You are welcome."

Matt left the skate park and headed towards the Starbucks at around 1:05.
