virtual solitaire on my computer. or this site :D or if i'm really frustrated with a story i meditate and see if i come up with any ideas.
I just let it sit, and once i decide that it has gone too long, I go back and read it again. Or I have someone else read it and ask what they think.

I go on this site. And read- sometimes reading other things sparks up my dead zone. And, I doodle. Or just think/meditate. :D

oh, i also reread what i've written to see if i get any more ideas. but that doesn't always work. i think it helps more if i do something else for a while, and try not to think too hard about my writing. then, eventually, an idea pops up. and that idea sparks more ideas, and the cycle goes on. :D
Also, another thing that I do when I'm stuck on one story, I move on to another one. Sometimes working on a different one helps me get back on the first one.
yeah, tori i like your story too! :D
i also agree that it can help to work on multiple stories at once. i'm working on four right now. but two are joint stories. and another story i haven't worked on in a month because i got writer's block while i was writing it, and i got hooked on writing soul stealer (which is the other thing i'm writing).

Hmm...I'm also writing about four right now. Two are joint stories, two are my own. They're all on this site. :D
I'm writing like, five. But I am really only working on Roses for June, and a little bit of another one that is still untitled.
In fact, with roses for june, i was stuck for a little while after chapter 3. But then this weekend, I suddenly got an idea, but I couldn't type it with me in DC and my laptop back in michigan. I just ended up writing it out in a notebook that has another story in it. I'm goint to post it soon.

i got really stuck on soul stealer after chapter three or four, i think. but then when i posted it and so many people liked it, i guess it kind of gave me the energy to come up w/more ideas. lol. if i hadn't posted it on this site, i probably would have given up on it. that's such a depressing thought...
Tori, that sounds like a really interesting idea!! NO!!! BRIGID!! IF YOU EVER GAVE UP ON SOUL STEALER I WOUlD DIE. lol. It's really good. The Morte has gone into something I never expected it would be. I didn't plan on it being a ghost/horror story. I started it out as just a mystery, and originally the people on the ship were going to be this new kind of creature called Lutes. But then, I realized I really didn't like that idea, so I abandoned it for awhile. When I decided to come back to it, I changed it to ghosts. And I like it this way. :D Tulip's Cozy Tea was also originally going to be a fairy story, but now it's a mystery story. And...I never imagined Moon Rise to turn out like this, but I really like it.
omigosh... sella u told me about that story with the lutes. i didn't know that the morte was based off that idea. that is cool. lol. and no, i'm not giving up on soul stealer. i luv it too much. and i don't want you to die... lol.
Yeah, I like it better as ghosts than lutes. The lutes one was weird.Thank goodness you're not giving up on that story!! :D I don't want myself to die, either. Plus I love your story.
Thanks Brigid :D Veronica, lutes are these weird characters I made up that look human, but they have bat-like wings and red eyes. I was creeped out by them, even though they were my own creation. So I decided to change it to ghosts, and I like that WAY better.

He he he, I kinda forgot that you posted the new story online, but I found it when I was looking for who had popular writing this week...
And you know what is weird? Every time I start to write a post, it think of it as though it were in the character game, with actions described between dashes and such.

like this:
Me:-blushes- Ummmm, you weren't supposed to know that....
that was just an example. blushes is an action between dashes, or astriks, or parenteses.

Yeah, I'm leaving. I thought I had enough of this before, but now it's getting crazy. Maybe it won't happen as much with two people as three. It's amazing that their is only three of us though. Think about tomorrow when kassy and rainy log on! They will be swamped with about 60 new comments in the various discussions, most of them from Sella, you, and I!

Well, I think that the only people that really contribute a decent amount to this group are you, me, sella, brigid, kassy, and rainy. So half our group is missing out on all the fun! Imagine if they were all here though! We would be posting at the same time three times as much, at the least!
good point. If it think about it, my brain might start to hurt, and not much makes my brain hurt.

Ohh... I do that... the bad thing is that now I have, like, 12 stories going...o.O

I re-read Injection, or RS, or Roses for June, or something, and get inspired. :D
Wow... this is an ancient topic... yikes.
I don't really ever have a shortage of things to write... and I don't think that I will ever have any problems getting past writer's block now that I've done nano. Plus I can pretty much open/close my mind to ideas. All it is, is letting my mind wander. for both. If I let my mind wander and I want to think of a new idea, I will end up stumbling on a new idea. If I'm not looking for anything, I wont pay attention and my thoughts won't turn into a plot.

I find that physical work helps me come up with story ideas when I have writer's block. mental stuff like school requires too much thinking to come up with stories, but my brother & I Mow people's yards in the summer and that gives me a lot of time to think about just about anything
To pass off a writers block . . .
hmm.
I go to Goodreads.com first
Then I go to Writing Passionates or other groups
And I think.
And I write.
And post XD millions upon millions of times. :D
