Xerxes Break(Vivian Ephona) (ephona) I think of all the possible ways it could happen until I find the right one; maybe look something up.

virtual solitaire on my computer. or this site :D or if i'm really frustrated with a story i meditate and see if i come up with any ideas.

I just let it sit, and once i decide that it has gone too long, I go back and read it again. Or I have someone else read it and ask what they think.

message 4: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (last edited May 06, 2008 08:05AM) (new)

I go on this site. And read- sometimes reading other things sparks up my dead zone. And, I doodle. Or just think/meditate. :D

message 5: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments I usually play virtual solitare, like Brigid. Sometimes I'll re-read what I've already written, like Veronica. Or I'll come on this site, like Sella. Anything to get my brain working. Other times I'll put down the peice I was working on and pick up another, that I might be able to work on at that moment in time.

message 6: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Waite (zaronas) im like veronica i just sit and wait till i need to write more

message 7: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
oh, i also reread what i've written to see if i get any more ideas. but that doesn't always work. i think it helps more if i do something else for a while, and try not to think too hard about my writing. then, eventually, an idea pops up. and that idea sparks more ideas, and the cycle goes on. :D

Also, another thing that I do when I'm stuck on one story, I move on to another one. Sometimes working on a different one helps me get back on the first one.

message 9: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Demonic is a great story! Are you going to post more?

message 10: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
I agree, your story is really good!

message 11: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
yeah, tori i like your story too! :D
i also agree that it can help to work on multiple stories at once. i'm working on four right now. but two are joint stories. and another story i haven't worked on in a month because i got writer's block while i was writing it, and i got hooked on writing soul stealer (which is the other thing i'm writing).

message 12: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
Hmm...I'm also writing about four right now. Two are joint stories, two are my own. They're all on this site. :D

I'm writing like, five. But I am really only working on Roses for June, and a little bit of another one that is still untitled.

In fact, with roses for june, i was stuck for a little while after chapter 3. But then this weekend, I suddenly got an idea, but I couldn't type it with me in DC and my laptop back in michigan. I just ended up writing it out in a notebook that has another story in it. I'm goint to post it soon.

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
i got really stuck on soul stealer after chapter three or four, i think. but then when i posted it and so many people liked it, i guess it kind of gave me the energy to come up w/more ideas. lol. if i hadn't posted it on this site, i probably would have given up on it. that's such a depressing thought...

message 15: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
Tori, that sounds like a really interesting idea!! NO!!! BRIGID!! IF YOU EVER GAVE UP ON SOUL STEALER I WOUlD DIE. lol. It's really good. The Morte has gone into something I never expected it would be. I didn't plan on it being a ghost/horror story. I started it out as just a mystery, and originally the people on the ship were going to be this new kind of creature called Lutes. But then, I realized I really didn't like that idea, so I abandoned it for awhile. When I decided to come back to it, I changed it to ghosts. And I like it this way. :D Tulip's Cozy Tea was also originally going to be a fairy story, but now it's a mystery story. And...I never imagined Moon Rise to turn out like this, but I really like it.

message 16: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
omigosh... sella u told me about that story with the lutes. i didn't know that the morte was based off that idea. that is cool. lol. and no, i'm not giving up on soul stealer. i luv it too much. and i don't want you to die... lol.

message 17: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
Yeah, I like it better as ghosts than lutes. The lutes one was weird.Thank goodness you're not giving up on that story!! :D I don't want myself to die, either. Plus I love your story.

message 18: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
lol. i'm glad u like it. i luv the morte, too. :D

message 19: by Veronica, What the neck!? (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
Ummmm, what are lutes?

message 20: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
Thanks Brigid :D Veronica, lutes are these weird characters I made up that look human, but they have bat-like wings and red eyes. I was creeped out by them, even though they were my own creation. So I decided to change it to ghosts, and I like that WAY better.

message 21: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Thanks for clarifying that, I was wondering as well.

message 22: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Bye the way, Roni, Sella, and Brigid. Thanks for taking the time to check up on my writing! :) :) :)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
He he he, I kinda forgot that you posted the new story online, but I found it when I was looking for who had popular writing this week...

And you know what is weird? Every time I start to write a post, it think of it as though it were in the character game, with actions described between dashes and such.

message 24: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
??What? I'm confused.

message 25: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments On what, Sella. Veronica, I do the same thing.

message 26: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
What do you mean, "actions described between dashes?"

message 27: by Veronica, What the neck!? (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
like this:

Me:-blushes- Ummmm, you weren't supposed to know that....

that was just an example. blushes is an action between dashes, or astriks, or parenteses.

message 28: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Like this. -grabs a book- -reads- -puts down book- -types- Stuff like that.

message 29: by Veronica, What the neck!? (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
did we post at the same time? again?

message 30: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Uh, yeah. But when I looked my writing was first. This is getting weird...

message 31: by Veronica, What the neck!? (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
Yeah, I'm leaving. I thought I had enough of this before, but now it's getting crazy. Maybe it won't happen as much with two people as three. It's amazing that their is only three of us though. Think about tomorrow when kassy and rainy log on! They will be swamped with about 60 new comments in the various discussions, most of them from Sella, you, and I!

message 32: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
Okay, I get it now...wow, we're posting at the same time again and again!!

message 33: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments It'll give them something to do. Most of it's interesting to read as well, so I don't think they'll mind, too much...

message 34: by Veronica, What the neck!? (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
Well, I think that the only people that really contribute a decent amount to this group are you, me, sella, brigid, kassy, and rainy. So half our group is missing out on all the fun! Imagine if they were all here though! We would be posting at the same time three times as much, at the least!

message 35: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Way too much telepathy.

good point. If it think about it, my brain might start to hurt, and not much makes my brain hurt.

Ohh... I do that... the bad thing is that now I have, like, 12 stories going...o.O

I re-read Injection, or RS, or Roses for June, or something, and get inspired. :D

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
Wow... this is an ancient topic... yikes.

I don't really ever have a shortage of things to write... and I don't think that I will ever have any problems getting past writer's block now that I've done nano. Plus I can pretty much open/close my mind to ideas. All it is, is letting my mind wander. for both. If I let my mind wander and I want to think of a new idea, I will end up stumbling on a new idea. If I'm not looking for anything, I wont pay attention and my thoughts won't turn into a plot.

message 40: by Natasha (new)

Natasha | 42 comments Used to have problems with writers block...often due to stress and lack of time, or a combination of the two. When you have two hours to write and all you can see is a blank screen and the time ticking by it gets tough. Now I give myself blocks of time and don't even think about the restrictions. I'll listen to music that's inpirational and brain storm and I don't stress if I come up with next to nothing. I find that's virtually eliminated blocks.

message 41: by Koori no hi (new)

Koori no hi When I write I listen to whatever music plays on the shuffel on my computer. right now, i have 2 stories going, 3 more started, and 2 short stories that I finished for school assignments.
I find that physical work helps me come up with story ideas when I have writer's block. mental stuff like school requires too much thinking to come up with stories, but my brother & I Mow people's yards in the summer and that gives me a lot of time to think about just about anything

To pass off a writers block . . .

hmm.

I go to Goodreads.com first

Then I go to Writing Passionates or other groups

And I think.

And I write.

And post XD millions upon millions of times. :D
