Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments I absolutely LUHV Twilight! I've only read the series once, but I'm thinking about reading it again. It was very adventurous!

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

I've read the series as well. I've enjoyed the books. However, I do find some of the things Edward does to be a bit creepy. I also have them downloaded audio. I like to listen to books that I've already read while I'm partly busy (cooking) so I don't have to be fully attentive.

message 4: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments Sounds fun, I don't have any audio books because I find the real handheld ones a little more comfortable. I've read along on an audio while I had the book in front of me, but never heard a book by itself. Edward is a bit creepy... :)

Elyssa: Should I post the Oath on here?

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

Sure, go for it.

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments Okay so one of the members of a Twilight fan group I joined posted this after she found it on the Internet.

I promise to remember Bella
Each time I carelessly fall down
And I promise to remember Edward
Whenever I'm out of town
I promise to obey traffic laws
For Charlie's sake of course
And I promise to remember Jacob
Whenever my heart fills with remorse
I promise to remember Carlisle
Whenever I'm in the Emergency Room
And I promise to remember Emmett
Every time there's a huge boom
I promise to remember Rosalie
Whenever I see something that holds pure beauty
And I promise to remember Alice
When I'm at the mall and a cute outfit spots me
I promise to remember Renesmee
Whenever I see that beautiful bronze hair
And I promise to remember Esme
When someone tells me they care
I promise to remember Jasper
Whenever my stomach isn't curled
And I promise to remember the Volturi
When someone speaks of dominating the world
Yes, I promise to love Twilight
Wherever I may go
So that all may see my obsession
Because I know what the Twilighters know

ABSOLUTLY LOOOOVE THEM!!! S. MEYER WAS THE ONE WHO INSPIRED ME TO BECOME A WRITER!!!! SHE'S AMAZING AND I LOVE THE TWILIGHT SERIES!! TOTALLY OBSESSED WITH THEM!!

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Peyton, which book out of the series did you like the best?

What did you think of the movies? Compared to the books?

message 10: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments Eclipse was my fave book; Breaking Dawn and Eclipse will probably tie as my fave movies.

message 11: by Andrez (new)

Andrez (andrez-ssi) yay I loved twilight

message 12: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments Yeah, it's like once New Moon (movie) came out, there were vampire books being advertised everywhere. We went to Books-A-Million once and my mom wouldn't let me get three different books from three different vampire series. I had to swap one of them for something else. She thinks vampires are addicting. Although in a way, they are. :)

message 14: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments Sometimes, I think my mom just doesn't understand me, but at the same time, she doesn't read a lot o fparanormal or fantasy. She tends to stick to Adult romance most of the time, or historical fiction and sometimes classics.

message 15: by ♥ Rachel♥ (new)

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) | 86 comments My mom definitely doesn't understand me :P If it were up to her, I'd only be reading classics!

message 16: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments Wow, that's not even funny. Classics are great to read when they're appealling, but all by themselves with nothing else just sounds utterly, terribly BORING.

message 17: by ♥ Rachel♥ (new)

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) | 86 comments And with fairly little variety. I mean, yes, classics are remembered for a reason, but I need some fluff too!!! And some books are basically part of our culture (like Harry Potter and Twilight)!!!

message 18: by Aviva (new)

Aviva (newtimelord) like your poem, zakiya

message 19: by Jordan (new)

Jordan (flyinglogicmonkey) | 150 comments Rachel, classic-loving, Twilight haters unite! (I'll be nice and not start debating with everyone).

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

No, I'm curious as to why you don't like Twilight?

message 21: by Jordan (new)

Jordan (flyinglogicmonkey) | 150 comments Ok, I'll try to keep it short. The writing is horrendous, Edward is a stalker and Bella? Is obnoxious, pathetic and a horrible example.

Now that was much too negative, wasn't it? Um...kittens and puppies. :)

message 22: by Valerie (new)

Valerie I haven't read Twilight and I'm still leading a fairly normal life, who knew?

message 23: by Peanut (last edited Feb 05, 2010 11:06AM) (new)

Peanut | 25 comments I've read some twilight but I didn't like it much, and the first movies was bad, in my opinion I just didn't think it stayed very true to the book. I don't mean to offend anyone.

message 24: by Peanut (new)

Peanut | 25 comments :)

message 25: by Jordan (new)

Jordan (flyinglogicmonkey) | 150 comments Oh, the movie was atrocious. But you know the saying "Never judge a book by its movie..."

message 26: by Maii (new)

Maii (maiita) | 62 comments you got that right..cuz if we gudge twilight by the movie no one would dare read the books

message 27: by Zakiya (new)

Out of everything you said, the only thing I can possibly agree with is that Edward is a stalker. Although I luhv Twi, if Edward wasn't a vamp, he could easily be arrested for sneaking into people's houses. LOL :)

message 28: by Maii (new)

Maii (maiita) | 62 comments i agree with you..the idea of someone watching you sleep is kinda creepy..as for bella there couldn't be someone more pathetic ..i mean she went into this huge depression just cuz edward left her!!

message 29: by [deleted user] (last edited Feb 07, 2010 08:38AM) (new)

This year I actually spent time on the Olympic peninsula and talked to some of the Quileute Tribe members about Twilight when I was attending a Native American Event.

Myosh wrote: "what did the Quileute Tribe say about twilight when you talked to them???"

I'm bringing this conversation over from the Classics topic.

Acutally, I was in the area August 09 for over a week (feels like this year). Some things the tribe said were good and others not so good. I don't want to be spokes person for the whole tribe. Some mentioned that Meyers didn't talk to the tribe at all and she took their creation story and changed some of it. Which is utterly the worst thing someone could do. Then some said that it was good for the tribe to be mentioned for Americans to know that Native Americans are still alive. Some think that the flood of people coming to Forks and the the reservation is good for bringing new money to the area. But it isn't good because the area isn't made to hold so many tourist and the pristine nature is being ruined.

A bar at the line of the reservation has "No Vampires Past this Line" sign. (Something close to that, can't remember the exact line.)

message 30: by KSMary (new)

KSMary I read all of the Twilight books and while I enjoyed them, I wouldn't say they were fantastic and the first movie was so bad that my daughter and I didn't even think twice about not going to the second one. Personally, I had a hard time with Bella's character. BTW - our house is Team Jacob. LOL

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm also Team Jacob if I have to choose. But I'm bias, being Native American.

that was a good thing to know..and i think all thier opinions are right..
from a way it was good for the people to know that they are still living..and i think it was her right as the writer to change parts of the Quileute legend..but she should've mintioned it in her books or in one of her interviews

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

I also think that she should of consulted the tribe before she allowed herself the right to their scared stories. Since the story is fictional why couldn't she make up a tribe. The only thing real was the Quileute Peoples, why?

message 34: by Maii (new)

Maii (maiita) | 62 comments you have a point..i guess she wanted something real in the books to make it more real since everything in the books is soo different from other books..speaking of the vampires she created..
sometimes i think she made it so easy for bella and edward..i mean he can come out in the sunlight and his family approved bella didn't mind what he was at all

message 35: by Peanut (new)

Peanut | 25 comments I thought the books were kind of predictable.

message 36: by Maii (new)

Maii (maiita) | 62 comments in which way?

message 37: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments Some things were sort of predictable.

KSMary: I'm Team Jacob as well. LOL :)

Here is an article about some of the issues that the Quileute had mentioned to me. In case fans are interested.

In every group, there's either usually someone who's read the Twilight series. What are your views on these books? Did you love them or hate them? What made you feel this way?

I have a total love/hate relationship with Twilight. My husband and I are both suckers for love stories and the supernatural, so we read the books together and found them addictive. We read the entire series in 2 weeks and were sad when it came to an end. Through most of it, we found ourselves on the edge of our seats as the dynamic love triangle between Bella, Edward, and Jacob ebbed and flowed. However, there were so many times when we hid our faces or giggled in embarrassment at the poor writing, exaggerated characters, and the overuse of the word "glower."

message 40: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments LOL, she did use "glower" a lot didn't she? ("She" referring to Stephenie Meyer.)

message 41: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 195 comments Haha, why not? Not into the whole "vampire" theme?

Kara (karalynx) | 3 comments ❤ ☠ Elyssa ☠ ❤ wrote: "A twilight convention? Never heard of it."

there's going to be one in Vancouver, Canada in a cupple of months
it like a place where you can meet some of the cast of new moon like Kellan Lutz and a some of the wolfs, and theres like going to be a ball

message 46: by **Carla** (new)

**Carla** wow twilight convention!!! The girls I work with would definately go if they could. I love the Twilight books but I cant justify spending my vacation or the money to go to a twilight convention. Maybe a different story if I lived in Vancouver already. My mom also loved the books too. Once I finised a book she would read it and she loved them just as much as me. I really like stephanie meyers writting too. The Host was reaaly good as well and I can't wait to read something else by her.

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

Carla, same here. I wouldn't spend all kinds of money to make the trek to Vancouver just for the Twilight convention. Maybe if it was in my area. Is it only going to be in Vancouver?

message 48: by Maii (new)

Maii (maiita) | 62 comments i agree..i mean i like twilight but it's not my life..and i would never go that far

message 49: by Peanut (new)

Peanut | 25 comments Myosh wrote: "in which way?"

Just in the way that she ended up with him/ fell in love with him I guess. And the good guys win but that was a good thing, it was like you figured they would win but didn't know when or how. But like I said it was a good thing.

message 50: by Deanna (new)

Deanna | 8 comments I like the story line in all her books, but not her writing. I will still continue to read her books. I will not be going to convention, wearing the t-shirts, or buying the dolls.
