So, when Daniel landed on the island, he pulled out his science/tech stuff and had the frieghter send him a package, which should have arrived moments after they shot it off. Daniel recvd it 33 minutes later.

Frank flies Sayid and Dessy through the specific course laid out by Daniel, leaving at dusk, and arrives at the freighter at mid-morning.

The doc is pulled out of the water with his throat slit, yet when Dainel morse codes the boat, they say the doc is fine and well on board.

What are your theories to the time differences we have experienced thus far?

Chloe (countessofblooms) | 149 comments My theory is that the island is actually outside of time as experienced by the main world. You can get to the island by following specially designated portals (maybe following coordinates as specified by "the numbers") kind of like the Bermuda Triangle.

A person's bearing when they go through the portal could have something to do with the time difference- or even more extreme, Desmond's coming unstuck in time.

Random thought that just occurred to me: We know that Ben and a polar bear somehow ended up in Tunisia. We also know that the plane smuggling heroin and Echo's brother was flying somewhere in Africa. Could they have accidentally hit one of the portals and ended up on the island? Same with the Black Rock, just an accidental crossing.

That is one of the most pressing questions the writers will have to answer... all of those things, the oceanic plane, and desmonds boat as well, seem to have been pulled or brought to the island... a portal or 'wormhole' would make the most sense. (Im thinking similar to Stephen Kings short story The Langoliers)

However it would seem that entering these portal or wormholes have no counter effects at all. It would be on leaving that people experience difficulties....

oh, well, not counting Minkowski and his boat buddy that went crazy and died... I dont really know the story there. Maybe they were fine when they paddled towards the island, but got sick when they turned to go back???

Mandy I was talking about this on the weekend and I'm thinking it probably does have something to do with the Bermuda Triangle, no one can explain disappearances there so it'd be easy to make a show out of it without it seeming to outrageously unreal, we don't know what goes on there so the writers have plenty to play with.

Lorena (lorenalilian) | 148 comments I saw a documentary on GEOWORLD that explained that if you take any coordinates on any given archipelago you'd find a series of so called dissaperences and malfunctions, and so forth, because of the terrain and because the scale the storms take there.
Yeah, I'm a real party killer, the documentary also took samples of naval archives in the coasts of Africa and South America and then the statistics and the numbers are very close to the Bermuda Triangle, boomer!

Another thing, you know the guy who offered Juliet her job on the island? He never ages! Just noticed that tonight.

The Island is in the future, which is pretty obvious after the doc's throat is slit on board. But how did it wash up on shore? Where exactly is the Island anyway?

Natalia Bortolotti | 9 comments It seems like Ben, Desmond, Richard, Abaddon, (sp?) and others have the ability to time travel, which is perhaps why they never age beyond the point when they gained the ability to travel through time.

Ben didn't seem the least surprised to be in Indonesia, once he got his bearings. He went to a hotel he seemed very familiar with (he was on the VIP list) and asked if it was 2005, which the hotel clerk confirmed. Also, he found Widmore very quickly and easily, though he was located in a far away city, and entered his apartment either with a key he already had, or he didn't need a key. Widmore was not at all surprised to see him. Why doesn't Ben just shoot Widmore in his sleep? Maybe he needs Widmore alive because Widnmore is Ben's constant.

With Richard, we've see him in the past with Locke (with Locke as a small child). We've also seen him in the past with Ben (when Ben was a small child). We've also seen him recruiting Juliet, which was clearly much farther in the future. If he's traveling through time, these things would make sense, and would also explain why he doesn't age. Could Abaddon be Richard's constant?

Emma Blue (litlover) | 332 comments Witmore being Ben's constant is a amazingly brilliant idea. Especially because I have this feeling that their relationship will lead to so many other answers (and questions) that we'll be screaming our head off with What's.

Sherry Ms.Natalia,I take my hat off to you!
That's some pretty good deductive reasoning there. That would be a pretty good explanation for why Richard doesn't age.But if that's the case then he may be playing a pretty deep game because he doesn't seem to support Ben completely. It leaves me to believe there are more interests at play here then just Ben's and Whidmore's.

Sherry I agree with you Emma, once we understand the erlationship between Whidmore and Ben we'll have a bigger picture of what's going on
