Japanese Literature discussion

I am reading some books in preparation for attacking the whole of The Tale of Genji. Anyone else interesed in some paced discussion of the work? If so, please post or drop me a message.

Sure, I've read all of "The Genj, so I'd be more than willing to use some of that experience to help make yours more enjoyable and interesting.

If I may ask, what books are you reading in preparation?

I have a copy of Tale of Genji, but no particular reason to read it yet- I saw something that called itself A guide to..., but when I decided to get it, it was no longer there at that used bookshop. I do not know if it is helpful. I suppose knowing about the era is helpful. I will be following this reading though I have other projects to read, so good luck!

I am starting to read it now. I have had the book for years!

Just wanted to leave a note that I appreciate this thread and the depth of topics in this group as a whole.
I am preparing for a reading of Genji, probably after finishing A Tale of Flowering Fortunes, so I was reviewing the comments on this post.
